Why did you want to lose weight?
I've said before first it was due to my health not just in general but I was infertile and most of that was due to my weight. I also didn't want my kids to EVER know of that unhealthy phyiscally inactive person I was.
I wasn't always overweight so I KNEW that I had let myself go and it wasn't because of having babies I just got fat. I was depressed and after I took care of those issues mentally I had the remnants of that time in my life through abuse I had done to my body.
I fell off of a jet ski summer 2007 and couldn't pull myself up because the weight was too much and I was physcially unfit.

my answers for wanting to lose weight;
1. 2005 my father lost his leg due to complicatons of Diabetes
2. 2006 i was diagnosed with diabetes
3. 2006 i was diagnosed with Hypertension
4. 2007 I was diagnosed with High cholesterol and Endometriosis (it's a girl thing)
5. I asked my doctor how do i get rid of all these conditiions... he said Lose Weight
I was just plain ole tired of being tired. I couldnt go to the mall without finding my self on the "Old man Bench" (you know where the husband s sit and hold their wives purses and shopping bags) well that's where you could find me sittin and talking to some old man about his 14 grandkids...
Plus i wanted to buy cute clothes and look good, i was tired of back pain, and muscle joint pain, and I agree with APPLe it's hard to talk with patients about their health when you are weighing in at 302lbs...

I NEEDED to lose weight for the following reasons:
1. To increase my chances of living a longer and healthier life.
2. For my sons who solely depend upon me and I need to be here for them as long as possible.
3. To feel better about myself (I am still working on this one).

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown
I had many of the problems mentioned above...very HBP, terribly achy knees and ankles, heel pain, occassional trouble breathing and shortness of breath, borderline diabetic, and at risk for stroke, occassionally suffering from acid reflux & sleep apnea, serious tension head & neck aches, bad back, etc, etc.
I also wanted to live. I was worried about developing diabetes, high cholestrol, heart disease, having a stroke and a multitude of other possible problems.
Clothes are expensive for big people and they are sometimes made cheaply which means they do not last long. I am not a rich woman. I want to shop for normal sized clothes for myself, not just my relatives.
I was tired of feeling like I was over eating and being inactive.
I am not married or have kids but if I ever have some babies I want to be around to raise them and see & help with my grandkids.
And I just wanted to be smaller. I am tired of being fat and it has worn me out. It was just well over time for me to do it.
I also know I am here for a reason and I have not completed my missions.

I wanted to lose weight for my health. Every woman on my mom's side of the family has diabetes and most of my dad's family has it too, but on his side it seems to be uncontrolable no matter what meds and diet change take places. I watched my big momma suffer through a double amputation and go blind from diabetes. And then my momma was diagnosed as prediabetic. Thats kinda hammered the nail in the WLS coffin for me.
My breaking point wasin Feb 2006 when I was 26 and 240lbs with a 2 1/2yr old. My and my ex were outside arguing and my baby ran out into the street and there was a car coming. I tried to run after him but I was way too slow and winded. Luckily the car slammed on his breaks before he hit my baby. My ex must have cussed me out so bad and called me all kinda fat asses and b's. It was a mess. But despite my ex, the only thing I cared about was my baby almost being hurt because I couldn't even run after him. A few months before that a friend told me about her WLS and I push that thought to the back of my head. But in 2007, I had creped up to 270 and was in constant pain in my joints I took WLS seriously and did what I had to do to get my surgery.
I am pain free right now. I can walk more than 10 minutes without praying for death. WLS is giving me back my life and lettingme be the momma I want to be for my son. The rest is just gravy as far as clothing and what not.

Because I am vain and got tired off all my hard work being for naught. I did not have WLS to lose weight, I had it to be able to keep the weight off once lost. I know that might sound crazy but the truth of the matter, I was active enough to lose the weight, I lost over 50 pounds the year before I found out about the band but as soon as I slacked off the extreme program that I was on, I found the weight creeping back up and we all know how extremely hard it is to continure a extreme weight loss program for an undetermine lenght of time. For me the band allow me to take a break and going back to the program to continue to lose without having gained what I have lost plus some.
well for mii it all started while i was in the 5th grade i went to the doctor for my checkup and he told my momz i gained 45pounds in 1yr and ever since the pounds been stacking on i try everything but i wasnt really feeling drawn to the diet so any weight i lost i gained it baq and more on top of it so i heard about gastric bypass but after i learned the cut off piece of ur stomach i aint want it so then in the summer of 08 i learn of the lapband and didnt need any cutting of the stomach i knew it was right for mii i tryn t0o covince my momz to let mii have it but she said no but as soon as she saw dr oz on oprah saying it works she all for it i was mad but happy so we saw the doctor did the diet till my surgery i had it done but i had
high blood pressure
high cholesterol

I used to weight in at 5 "4 300 lbs in 2004 !!!
I lost 130 pounds on my own, then I started to regain !!!
My bmi last year was under 40 therefore I had to self-pay (surgery) !!!
I just had nightmares about blowing back up to 300 pounds !!!
