Life is so crazy to me after WLS.  Here is my plastest problem well not really a problem, but just something new to me.  I have lost 125lbs, which has made me look alot more attractive to my male counter parts apparently.  Every where I go men are always looking at me or asking am I from around here.  Now here is my problem.  I have been big all my life and really never had to deal with attention like that and I don't know how to respond.  I know I sound stupid, but for real.  I usually don't even respond, because i assume they are not talking me.  I guess all I want to know is how did you all deal with all the new attention.  I don't know why but I feel like i am not handleing the attention well.

awwww - welcome to how life is SUPPOSED to be!!!!!

I know exactly how you feel - I went through the SAME thing.  Being fat is oddly being invisible - and I had come too used to being ignored, avoided and overlooked.  I STILL have issues with looking folk in the eye when I am out and saying hi or responding.

I actually make a pointed effort to keep my head up, and to lock eyes with people when I am out - it's something you have to focus on to get rid of the habit of being in your own shell.  It's like being a tourist in your own life - you gotta walk around checking out the sights!!!!  LOL

It won't always feel like this - you'll adjust and get used to it - ENJOY!!!!

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

I know of a few people that sought therapy to deal with thier new bodies and the feelings they are having getting used to it. Not saying you need therapy, just a suggestion.

While I have lost 50 lbs, I am still a very big girl.  I'm not getting that attention and I think I might welcome it for a change.

Roxy,
This suddenly "new" attraction is something many of us go thru.  Hell, I'm going thru it now.  It is, indeed, something that gets some getting used to.

Now, there are different ways you can handle it.  Some take it in stride, may even mumble a polite "thank you" and keep it moving.

Others, get really bitter about it, thinking to themselves, "I'm the same person I've always been..now suddenly, I'm a commodity...F*#&(*$  You!!"

Still others go on what could be called a dating rampage. Doing all the stuff, people, etc, they feel they missed out on while bigger.

The key, I believe, ultimately, is in being comfy in ur "new" shell.  Good luck with the transition.  The attention is just beginning.  The key is all in how you chose to deal with it.  :-)
