Surgery and Acrylic Nails
A lot of times the surgeons prefer you have clean nailbeds so that they can keep an eye on them during the surgery...they can tell by the color of the nail beds if you are well oxygenated or not. BUT I see that some people said their doc didn't need them removed...I would guess it would be whatever the doc is comfy with doing. I have always had to have clean nails when I went under.

At the surgery center I work at the anesthesiologists say that acrylics and gels aren't a problem as long as the polish is removed or is clear (pink and white works too). Colored nail polish inteferes with the infra-red light used to monitor your oxygenation level.
Good luck on your surgery.
