WL Confessions - long post
O'kay, I have been on this board for about a month ... but joined OH in May after surgery. I have read all of your posts and I am glad that all of you do the 'right' things on a daily/weekly basis.
The truth is, I have NOT done the 'right' things. Perhaps, I am just lazy or something else. Looking back, the only thing I did do correctly was - I did NOT cheat on the 2 week liquid diet before surgery. I did not cheat because I was TOO afraid that I would jack myself up. I arrived at the hospital free of any guilt on condemnation. My surgery was self pay so, I footed all the bills myself. It was a sacrifice for me and my family.
O'kay, the day of surgery, the surgeon was running late so, after having surgery and getting a hyatal hernia fixed, I woke up the next day feeling like a train ran over me. The nurses dragged me out of bed for a leak test and the first swallow was like I was drinking acid. My insides burned like they were on fire. They kept the IVs in so, I stayed pretty hydrated. The nurses bugged me about getting up and walking and the truth is, I could barely move or drink or do anything so, I did not.
Once my husband got to the hospital on day 2, the nurses complained to him that I needed to get up. He committed that he would stay the night and get me to walking at least once per hour during the night. It was horrible - I could barely move and was in pain so, I reluctantly did it but fussing the entire time. I laid in my hospital bed, not even having the energy to watch TV or do anything but sleep.
I was released from the hospital on the evening of day 3 and went home still unable to sip and on day 7, I was back in the hospital - dehydrated. They spent the entire day trying to rehydrate my body. Still today, I have issues getting the water in. In the beginning, it would take me all day to drink 1 bottle of isopure - and that was after it was loaded down with ice as my stomach prefers extra cold stuff.
I did follow the food diet for the first 5 months ... however, I have not exercised. (I am not a total couch potato as my job requires me to be in and out of the car and walking all day) Of course, I have walked around Wal Mart and in the mall but, as far as an exercise routine, I have not done it. At 7 months, I have lost the 85 lbs that I wanted to loose and am at the size 14 that I wanted to be at. (I was at a 22) I am 5' 10" so, to me going under a 12 would not look good on me.
When I read all of the posts on BAF and you all talk about your exercise, water intake and diet routine, I feel bad.
When I think about what I eat on a daily basis - it is mostly carbs. I am not trying to loose any more weight. Yesterday I ate peanut butter crackers for breakfast, lemonade and bbq 4 chicken chunks and a few potato wedges. Today, I have had 2 eggo waffles & a piece of bacon.
On a good day, I get in 32/48 ozs of water maximum. I eat something about every 2 hours as I am constantly hungry. Due to the size of my sleeve, I can only eat small portions at a time and I try to eat protein (chicken) at meal times and snacks (peanut butter crackers & popcorn).
Obviously, I need to eat better and possibly do some exercise. I need some motivation/advice.
Thanks in advance!

Ok - here goes..... wait for it..... wait for it........
WTF???? How you make THAT big an investment then don't protect it?? You couldn't buy a 30K car and not have insurance would you??????
First - I can't make ANY comment whatsoever on your eating - you need to get back to the doc, nurse, nutritionist or whoever is in charge of swinging chickens for your type surgery...... **Gone withe the Wind imitation** I don't know nothin bout birthin no babies OR what VSGers supposed to eat...............
HOWEVER - I WILL get on your ass about exercise!!! What in the hot ham sammich do you think you supposed to do OTHER than not eat a lot? LOL - exercising does SO much more than just get you fine - you have heart and other body parts that benefit from exercise as a MAINTENENCE - you have purchased a new 20K body and you forgetting to change the oil!!!!!!
Now - what is blocking you from exercising? What kind of exercise to you LIKE to do or are you INTERESTED in? Would home or gym work better for you? You mention you have a jacked up schedule - welcome to life! I bet you make appts to get your hair and nails done - you find or MAKE time for that, right? WHY NOT FOR YOUR FITNESS??????
Set yourself a first milestone - a date and time for your FIRST workout - and don't let NOTHING come between you and that date!!! Then - look at your schedule and carve out time to work out - doesn't have to be 2 hrs or some long **** like that - a simple 30 min three times a week is all you need to get you going......
NOW - are you going to try to bull**** me and tell me **high pitched kiddie whining voice** But Mack - I don't HAVE 30 min three times a week - I'm TOO busy......**
YO AZZ WASN'T TOO BUSY TO BOOK ALL THEM CHEESEBURGERS, PIZZAS, SODAS, CAKES AND ICE CREAM TO END UP SELF PAY FOR VSG, WERE YOU?????????!!!!!!
Go tell that **** elsewhere!!!! (see how I just took care of that exchange between us already??lol)
NOW BOOK YOUR TIME and GET MOVING!!!!!!

the new CRAZY thing I heard a while back is that if you had WLS - you can't be in the military. they don't want to deal with monitoring and eating schedules and if you're hurt in the field, the slightly different approach to medical care.....

Technically, that is true but they have waivers that you can get for that. My hubby is assigned to a MEPS (military entrance processing station) and asked a recruiter because once I drop all of this weight I am thinking about going back in. The recruiter said I would need a waiver but it is doable. I think you have to be over a year out though.
My goal 135; current 132; pre-op highest 285; I have lost more than I weigh... I my RNY!
