Sleep - post WLS.......... (warning: long)

My insomnia is caused by my fibromyalgia and with this I don't go into REM sleep so my muscles don't repair themselves so that's why I'm in pain all the time. I'm sleeping a little more now and I don't take my prescribed sleep meds because it makes me too groggy for a couple of days. My neurologist gave me a muscle relaxer and upped my seizure meds on Mon. and asked me to take them before bed. I've rested well this week. I always read a book about an hour before I go to sleep, it helps me to relax.

I am also having a problem with sleeping though. I figured I wasn't doing enough or I was crazy but the problem I have is if something is HEAVY on my mind then I can give up the idea behind sleep. I might fall asleep but eventually i'll wake up and not go back to sleep.

What if you work out until you can't take it no more? Until your body is just doggg tired. I have found the best sleep is after a good work out so does that mean anything?

I was told by my PCP  that a person with sleep problems should not work out right before bed time and should no****ch TV while in bed, he said all this while writing my prescription for Ambien. I had always heard the opposite.  He explained the logic behind all of it, but as soon as I walked out his office with my prescription all information was lost. I think he said all that mess becuae he is part of the prescription drug conspircy...where taking one drug only leads to taking another ...and another...LOL

Not sure.  It doesn't seem to be as prevalent with lap banders as with RNY - from the response I have read from the times this has been posted - it's generally an RNY issue.

Wonder if it has to do with the bypass part of bypass - since lap banders and DSers don't have the small intestine bypasses like RNY - maybe something in there holds the key to sleep.......

Or maybe we just need to stop tryna sleep like we still FAT asses!!!!!  LOL

the first one sounds all official tho, don't it???  LMAO

OMG....I use to be the exact same way.. Man I was able to sleep for hours and hours and more hours.  On the weekends I had to have about 2 to 3 naps.  Now I don't know I can't seem to sleep. I now go to bed past 11:00pm and I wake up every morning at 4:45am.  I sure do miss my daily naps!!!

hmmm - I am not sure you fall into this category.  I didn't have problems sleeping before - only after I lost - I was still a sleeper early on..........

Are you tired the next day?  My issue isn't that I have trouble sleeping really..... it's just that I don't sleep as much as I WANT to - and it's PURE want - because I am not tired at all (actually the opposite) when I let my body do it's 'natural' thing - I just want to be sleep for more hours.

Do you take meds for sleep?
