Veteran Post-ops and Pre-ops
If you are not losing weight then get your thyroid checked. Most of you know that I workout on a regular basis. My weight loss slowed down after my first year, I thought the main culprit was my occasionally unhealthy eating. 3 years ago my doctor prescribed an ultra sound for my thyroid and I didn't do it. I was tired of tests because of my kidney cancer and was just frustrated in being a guinea pig. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with hypertension and the weight was creeping up. So my hard ass head just had the untra -sound and I have nodules on both thyroids. Yesterday I went in for my biopsy and the doctor said my metabolism was affected by the nodules. It will be 3-5 days before I receive the results of the biopsy. Please listen to your body and do what is prescribed by your doctor.

If I had a hundred dollars for every time I have read a post that had "Shut up LaVerne" in it, I could retire early.Girl, that is why I support folks and go see them in the hospital, I WANT TO SEE THEM AT THEIR WORST, when you see a person at their worst, you will know when they are doing bad and have an excuse for not working out or when they just being lazy to be lazy (see there is a reason behind my madness)

Evidently my thyroid feels odd because both my OB/GYN and PC always say they feel something odd when I go in for check ups but tests always come back negative for problems. Even though I know this has always been the case, I go through the process anyway just to be sure.
Also adding to your post, by at least year 3 make sure that you request a referral to have a bone density test as that is usually around the time issues would become obvious.

I read that Oprah has thyroid issues and that's played a big role in her weight gain. I'm glad you found out what was wrong.
It's been a long time since I took Anatomy & Physiology and I don't know much about current information regarding thyroid function. What is your doctor's treatment plan? Are they going to prescribe medications for you?
