Thanks Mrs. C.C., I do not see myself trying bread for a REALLY long time but after seeing my Dr. and being told that it would be a long time or never...I was shocked..So I was wondering how it was for others...I know there are alternatives such as wraps and other things but just wondering.

Hi Gorgeouslsa:

I think I was about 6 months out before I started eating bread ( wish I hadn't started so early).  But it went down OK, sometimes now I can eat a whole subway 6 inch and sometimes I can't.  The softer the food is the more I can hold.  I'm trying my best to eat more dense (filling) foods.

Hi Lia, I will definitely wait until I reach goal because thus far I have been doing farely well...I just wonder if I would ever eat some of my favorite foods again in moderation...If I know I can one day I would wait and not ru****

It was probably 1 year before I tried bread because that was my weakness when I was heavy but after 4 years (1/13/05)  I have learned to live without it, on a good day I luck if I can eat a whole hamburger from McDonald's with 1/3 of the bread missing.

Toast was one of my approved foods as of two weeks out.  I think it depends on you program.  I eat my protein first then a bite of two of my toast.  The bread I use is whole wheat with 5g of protein.  My surgeons approves so i never thought anything was wrong with it.

I was a year out before I started eating bread; and even now it takes me a long time to eat a complete sandwich, burger (whatever I eat with bread).  So what I do is just eat the meat and/or cheese. But as other's have said that is a habit you don't want to get back into cause that carb monster is hard to let go!

I wish you all the best on this journey; cause the experience speaks for itself!

never been much of a bread or sandwich girl, but I have had a few since surgery as well as a few bites of the bread they give you in restaurants.  This wasn't till about 6 months and OK'd by my NUT.  If it's subway, I rip out the soft part, anywhere else like panera I make sure it's a  frim bread and well toasted.  Only time I feel real heavy and full is when the bread is too soft but otherwise I can eat bread no problem, but only a very little bit.  Honestly, I find it's not even worth it, it's a waste of money to take 3 bites and be full.

I'm 9 months out and when I do eat bread I only eat it if its toasted.  I toast 1 slice of multi grain then I cut the crust off then cut it in half.

I've been eating bread since I was 3 weeks out (when my nut approved toasted toasted bread) I made a grill cheese sandwich  at least oncee a week. I still eat bread if I want a sandwich (I normally do one slice folded in half) Most of the time honestly I eat a couple of bites of it and then leave the rest. I'm hard headed you can't tell me I can't eat anything however I can CHOOSE to not have it. I also doa real mulitigrain rich bread.  I made up in my mind I wouldn't eat sweets, drink sodas, or fried food but I keep my bread. That's just my experinece.
