See my post Waldenbooks!

Why can't yawl tell me "Dee, you just want somebody to tell yo ugly asse to buy the boots, when you know yo stank asse gon buy'em anyway!"
~okay, Bad Dedee---and YES I am sober like African putty, so I am not drunk and being messy~

Hey Dedee,
I would have responded to your Waldenbook post, but between packing and doing a "Michigan Frontier" book report which is due tomorrow (why do kids wait til the last minute to do things) I am just now getting back to the computer. So do you know of any AA books that I can get my daughter? Sydney says she is too old for Hannah and wants books like mine. Do you know of any? I have one call Boy Shopping, but still think it is too mature for her right now. I can't wait until her bedtime, so I can get my drink on and finish packing.

Kenn is 10 and Kerri is 8. They both like chapter books now....I use this site to order Kenn books
http://www.blackbooksdirect.com/teenfiction.html (however, I browse them and ensure they are not tooo grown for her)
Kerri is okay with reading non-chapter books too....she loves to read non-fiction....so I buy her stuff like Ruby Bridges, the Underground Railroad, Escape to Freedom.....
She also has (but doesn't really like them now) Will and Jada's book....she also has lots of book by AA she bought from the Book Fair, but I can't remember their name.
If you find something decent, let me know and I will do the same.

Our daughter Jocelyn is 10 but a bit advanced for her age. These are not AA books but stuff that keeps her really busy. She's reading the James Patterson Maximum Ride series. A fantasy, mythology kinda thing about some teenagers who were given wings.
She's also on the 39 Cluses books hard.
She also did a series about The Olympians and Percy Jackson by Rick Warden
Before that she did a Fairy series.
We realize that the world is not all AFrican American and she can be captivated by other things. I'm not totally ready for her to be totally emersed in the African American culture. I'm really scare of that all they see is the videos, the thug life and whats really real. She sees that daily...I want her to know there is a whole big world and what I read she is not really ready for.
Look at ALL the options that are out there and introduce her to new things.
