Okay, so it's no secret when I am depressed or hurting, I like to make myself feel better by shopping.....well, today was the funeral....I played on BAF all day to keep my mind off it....but I had a moment where I needed to get up and cry (after reading Vanessa's post)....so while crying, I found myself in the mall section of the office tower I work in...right?!

I bypassed Nine West, TJ Maxx, overlooked Macy's and SAKS Fifth....and walked into Waldenbooks.....the had a BIG SALE sign posted.....wanted to get the new EJD and my kids some books....BUT since I work in a mall tower, I only take 20 dollas to work with me ~I have no self-control~

(But I know peeps and all the stores and be like, Girl, hold this for me! LOL--the girl in TJM even got my cell digits and text me when good schitt comes in and she holds back for me)

Anyway, I got my girls an ATLAS ~they always got some dayum geography homework and I am geographically challenged~, I also bought them (the girls and DJ) a dictionary, thesaurus, and a vocabulary enhancer, and bought me a sign language book.....tax and all $14!

YES, I am taking more money to work tomorrow LOL

Want to get them the Anatomy book....and me so Black American Novels!

I also saw the cutest little book ~I hope it is still there~ for Taya's baby!

So, what books are you getting for yourself?

Mann....Imma try to be good....I want the new EJD....the other one I don't have by Donna Grant and Virginia Dewberry ~spelling~

Moms bought me Gotta Keep Trying by them....can't remember the other one name but I saw both of them....I also need to replace "Trying to sleep in the bed you made"

I saw some I have NEVER seent before.....I was eye-glazing in there...like a natural high

There is one book of 2008 essays by different BA authors....Imma get that one too!

I saw some non-fiction books I need to purchase.....juss too many, but I going to use self-control and only spend 50 dollas!

I hate that all of our Waldenbook stores have been closed and we now have Borders and Barnes and Nobles everywhere.  I buy my books online!!

The best thing about Borders and B/N is the coffee shop where sometimes I just buy a book, go have a latte, sit down and start my book.

I know what you mean about the depression part.  A couple days ago, my daughters maternal grandfather died (though my ex and I are divorced, I still liked and respected her dad).  He had colon cancer.  Anyway, the funeral was monday.  In the days leading up to the funeral, I was re-reading "The Secret" and this book called "The Seat of the Soul".  I guess I was trying to make sense of stuff and get back in contact with my own spirituality.

Girl I love to read. I read every night at least an hour sometimes 2 or 3 hours if I have insomnia. Two good books by an African American author is Cane River and Red River the author's last name is Tademy. Red River is written about my hubby's hometown that is so small that all it has is a caution light.  The last EJD book I read, I hated and it made me not want to read his work anymore, it was the one about the hitman.

You did great Dedee. I always bought educational books for my kids and they are smart kids.
