I always wonder about the alcohol questions. Most, not all, especially if you need insurance approval have to see a NUT and mine advised me not to drink for a year. Then in my surgeon's materials it was in there again. I wish more people would do research before they have these surgeries.

We must be compiant on our instructions. Once you start breaking the rules you are leading yourself down a slippery slope.

Thanks for the reminder DeDe. I got my arse set straight yesterday for just contemplating an indulgence. Yes, I knew that I wasn't supposed to drink this early. I did all of the pre-op meetings with my nutritionist and my surgeon; so, it wasn't about a lack of knowledge. Just a temptation to take one sip of the forbidden fruit juice.

Dedee,

I have the lap band and now I very seldom drink anything.  I would always drink and eat at the same time, but now I can't.  If I drink without eating, I immediately feel intoxicated -- it has been a couple of years since my surgery and I'm still the same way.

Other than the occasional glass of wine, I gave up drinking.  After I was banded, I waited about 6 months before I tried to drink -- it just didn't work out right.

I don't know if this has happened to any other lapbanders though
