My GOOD duty post for the WEEK (Alcohol after surgery)

Really, I should have NEVER stopped doing this....newbies come along like crabs in a screwhouse (I don't like the word *****)....so this information is always needed:

ALCOHOL after RNY, DS, and VSG (not sure about the LAPBAND or REALIZE).....

Before taking the journey to a healthier life, some, if not most, of us indulged in drinking alcoholic beverages. Some of us, daily....some weekly, some montly, and some, just regular social drinkers. It is not TOP SECRET that WLS changes our lives....mentally, physically, and emotionally. Meaning, some of us who never took a drink, JUST MAY, have an addiction transfer and decide to have a love affair with the bottle.

In all instances of this journey, though BAF is GREAT support by people who are living or will live the WLS life, your doctor should be your FIRST source of information. He/she should explain:

*All surgeons perfom their surgeries differently; therefore, pleases follow my guidelines and not those of your PEERS
* Open--it can take up to 6 weeks for your external to heal, while taking 6 months (plus) for your internal to heal. (Lap--not sure about the external, but the internal is the same.)
*What have I done to you? I have cut your stomach, which created a medical ulcer, and rerouted your intestines. An ulcer is nothing more than an open wound! However, it's not the kind of wound you can rub with neosporin and cover with a band-aid (you won't be singing, I am stuck on band-aid, cause band-aids stuck on me!). It is internal and eating the wrong foods (pizza, spicy food, fried foods) or drinking alocoholic beverages (and smoking) will only AGGRAVATE that open wound (that sounds scarier than gastric ulcer), causing it to inflame, cause pain, and possibly BLEED. *What does that mean for you? Well, it could mean another surgery; it could mean scoping to freeze and/or close the ulcer; unfortunately, it could mean DEATH! (Soon, will be done, troubles of the world!)

BAF, OH?!, is it really that serious? I mean, you had the surgery to get healthier, is drinking before 6-12 months worth dying? I mean, REALLY, the inotoxication only last about 10-15 minutes now; it can wait a dayum year ~roll eyes~

AND YES, since it has a totally different effect on WLS patients, you will consume more....like trying to get that FIRST high again ......you have to ADMIT, most of us have an addictive personality, so becoming addicted is quite easy. Once again, is it really that serious?

Take the time to develop a healthy lifestyle, to include but not limited to, healthy eating, exercise, honesty with self, love of self, and forming positive support in your life.  After all, it's about YOU!

Don't short-change yourself for anyone. Have a love-affair with YOU, not GREY GOOSE. Exercise and after you shower, baby oil your body and have a self-confident ****** For once in your life, make it about, ME, ME, and ME! You will thank yourself for it tomorrow and days to come.

Healthy and Happy Losing,

"newbies come along like crabs in a screwhouse".  (do I need to get examined?)

Thanks for repeating this very important information.  Grey Goose is my drink of choice but my health is more important.  Thanks Again for sharing.

Sorry Lady

You can only get it in the islands we bring some back everytime we or one of our friends go to Bahamas. But if you decided to go this weekend let me know. I may need you to bring some back for us.

You can find it on ebay (overpriced) but it is too exepensive when it only costs $40.

Lashay,
I LOVE this stuff.  I hate regular Hennessey, but the white Henny is goooooooooooood.  Too bad its so hard to find up here.   :-(

Uh, I mean NO DRINKING UNLESS your physician says you can.  Yeah, that's what I meant to say.  ;-)
