Hi Keisha,

Congratulations on yorur surgery and welcome to BAF.  I can totally understand how you feel; I was a mess after I had my wls and I stayed that way for about 3 months.  I felt like I was a jacked up person because I could not lose weight and keep it off -- I had to resort to getting cut to get it right.

I missed some things that I use to eat, but one day I woke up and I was so thankful that I was able to have wls, I was thankful that I had people to support me and most importantly that I had my laptop and I could connect with people that were going through the same thing.  I stayed on the lapband forum always looking for something that would help me get through the bad time.

The good thing now is that I can most of the comfort foods that I use to like don't work with my band.  I have several hobbies and that helped me a lot also.

Don't worry, I think what you are going throught is just natural for a lot of people that have wls.

Lap Band on 09/30/05 with

Good morning Keisha, I normally don't post this early but getting ready to hit the gym before work, I went through the exact same thing, I cried and cried after my surgery, and yes we do loose estrogen as we lose weight, I lost weight very rapidily too like RNY in the beginning when I had my surgery, I stayed focused and ate properly and exercised, --fast forward 3 years later, it is very hard for me to stay as focused as in the beginning, my ole eating habits try to sneak back up every single day.

I am an emotional eater too, I am a software developer and I am currently working with a team of software engineers implementing a critical new application and we are working in a lab right now, not in my regular office and I WAS focused in trying to lose some weight I had put on; now we are catered lunch every day and it consist of sandwiches, cookies and chips and soda....my diet has been put on hold until we implement this freaking app..I am mad about that...so my point is throughout your lap band journey there will be peaks in weight loss and some weight gain at some point (especially if you have to get your band unfilled at some point)...so USE this time early out in your journey to try to get as much weight off as you can so when you are dealing with every day life, you will have room to gain a few pounds back without totally freaking out like me.

Also another tip for success with the band, use the gym and exercise just like brushing your teeth, try to get into a habit and incorporate exercise into your every day life, this way if you get tempted to eat junk, it will not affect your weight.

Good luck in your journey!
