Keisha, I think what you are feeling is perfectly normal. For most of us, food is a friend and a comfort. I don't think any of us would be where we are now if we didn't have some sort of food issue. I believe you are likely in 'mourning' so to speak because you are aware of the changes to come after surgery. Consider it a good thing that you are aware now! There is a bigger roller coaster to ride AFTER surgery. Like the others have mentioned...estrogen is stored in fat and you will be losing body fat at a very rapid pace for a while. So by all means be prepared for the mood swings to come. Just know it is NORMAL and it WILL pass.
It is very difficult to overcome the emotional aspect of wanting to eat. I still struggle with it and am coming up on 5 years out. The things is, it is not physiologically possible for you eat like you did before...at least for me it isn't. This is a mind game. Sometimes I grab a book, get on the computer, pop a piece of gum...and honestly sometimes I eat.
