BAF Members: To The Board Room Pronto! (Seriously Long)
There are a number of reasons why I don’t post as much as I used to.
One is because for me those common “community" interests have, for the most part, disappeared. When I was a newbie, there was more of an emphasis on the weight loss support aspect of the board, and that was my primary reason for posting on BAF. WLS was EXCITING! Weight loss is not the center of my universe anymore, so it has a lower priority in my world now. I went from being morbidly obese and single to getting married, raising two stepdaughters and moving into a senior management position on my job in a relatively short period of time after I lost weight. Life happens. You'll see.
One poster mentioned the courtesy factor. Often people will post and ask questions or for advice, but when others take the time to answer from their own experience or even do research for them, they don’t say thanks or even acknowledge it. Everybody wants to feel appreciated.
Also, I have to admit that part of it for me is the generation gap and differences in values/lifestyles. Guess I’m getting old. Some of the stuff that people talk about on this board and the slang that they use is foreign to me. I have, on more than one occasion, had to Google some of it or look it up in urban dictionaries just so I could at least get the gist of the conversation. I seriously just can't relate to some of the people on here. It’s too much work.
I have missed the happenings around here and will be back on a regular, even if its to post one of my corny jokes! I don't know what the BAF was like in the past, but I like what it is now, for what's it worth.
Thanks Inspire for the thump on the head!

I don't have an answer on how to make things better, but maybe the vets that knew BAF in its hey day should stick around to pay it forward to those of us still trying to make this journey.
I am almost 3 years post of and in my "in living color" voice....and we still together!!!! loll
I love BAF and the people that are on here. I get so much from coming here. Whether it is entertainment, encouragement, support, prayers, recipe's, kudos, etc....it is all good and i love it. I can't stay away from BAF. I feel that we are a family and with all families, there is some dysfunction and we live through it and move on....so whoever tries to fire you after this post...tell them to kick rocks!
Paying it forward helps me remain grounded and rooted on my quest to get to stay healthy. I can't preach it if I don't practice it!
Peace and Blessing to you Inspire!
