There are a number of reasons why I don’t post as much as I used to.

One is because for me those common “community" interests have, for the most part, disappeared.  When I was a newbie, there was more of an emphasis on the weight loss support aspect of the board, and that was my primary reason for posting on BAF.  WLS was EXCITING!  Weight loss is not the center of my universe anymore, so it has a lower priority in my world now.  I went from being morbidly obese and single to getting married, raising two stepdaughters and moving into a senior management position on my job in a relatively short period of time after I lost weight.  Life happens.   You'll see.

One poster mentioned the courtesy factor.  Often people will post and ask questions or for advice, but when others take the time to answer from their own experience or even do research for them, they don’t say thanks or even acknowledge it.  Everybody wants to feel appreciated.

Also, I have to admit that part of it for me is the generation gap and differences in values/lifestyles.  Guess I’m getting old.  Some of the stuff that people talk about on this board and the slang that they use is foreign to me.  I have, on more than one occasion, had to Google some of it or look it up in urban dictionaries just so I could at least get the gist of the conversation.  I seriously just can't relate to some of the people on here.  It’s too much work.

I'm guilty of not posting, but for none of the reasons you list.  By the time the holidays rolled around, I have just been super busy.  I am working my band, which takes a lot of planning, and exercising (thanks Faith for the thump on the head!).  Work has gotten more challenging, which is why I only get a chance to look/lurk when I'm having my lunch, which 9 times out of 10 is spent running errands.  I love the BAF still.  I just wish I had more time.  When I get home in the evening, wind down, cook and eat dinner, spend quality time with my hubby, whew!  I don't have time for too much else.

I have missed the happenings around here and will be back on a regular, even if its to post one of my corny jokes!  I don't know what the BAF was like in the past, but I like what it is now, for what's it worth.

Thanks Inspire for the thump on the head!

Mack, great new avatar!

I'm on the board much more than I was in the past.  When I was knew to BAF it took awhile to adjust to all the different personalities and inside jokes.  In real life I'm pretty shy and I guess that comes across online as well.  Unfortunately I've seen legitimate questions regarding surgery go unanswered or get rare views while the drama and sex posts are always the 'Hot' ones.

I don't have an answer on how to make things better, but maybe the vets that knew BAF in its hey day should stick around to pay it forward to those of us still trying to make this journey.

Very good post Inspire. I've only been here a few months and was warmly welcomed. Y'all have helped me with a lot of issues whether they are weight related or not. I'm glad for this post because it certainly reminds me to pay it forward to the newbies. I love BAF and I hope that the old heads don't go anywhere because we still need you.

very good post and i remember a lot of those that are on the list and miss seeing quite a few people that used to be on the board.

I am almost 3 years post of and in my "in living color" voice....and we still together!!!!  loll

I love BAF and the people that are on here.  I get so much from coming here.  Whether it is entertainment, encouragement, support, prayers, recipe's, kudos, etc....it is all good and i love it.  I can't stay away from BAF.  I feel that we are a family and with all families, there is some dysfunction and we live through it and move on....so whoever tries to fire you after this post...tell them to kick rocks!

Awesome post!  I'm one of those that respond to everything late because I have been blocked at work.  I always try to search for the newbies, prayer requests, birthday shout outs, anniversary post and any others that I can answer with a word of encouragement and support.

Paying it forward helps me remain grounded and rooted on my quest to get to stay healthy.  I can't preach it if I don't practice it!

Peace and Blessing to you Inspire!

I read the whole thing you are so in point!  I swear I didnt even read my entire intake packet at the hospital.  I would love to see BAF be what it was and offer any positive support because I have gotten from many members of the board.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
