BAF Members: To The Board Room Pronto! (Seriously Long)
Great post, Inspire. All I really want to add is that I know for a fact that without BAF I woulda lost focus a long time ago. I stumbled upon BAF back in 2003, b4 I even had my surgery, after I found black folks pics on the B4 and After photo page. I would spend hours and hours reading about folks journeys and praying for approval for my own wls. Some of those who inspired me are gone now, but some are still here and hold special places in my heart, whether I've since met them or not.
You never know who's watching you, and who you might be inspiring without even knowing it.
I come here every day and always thought I was a "regular" until someone who's opinion I trust told me recently that I 'dont post that much' so I plan to correct that, because BAF is definitely a big part of my life.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely who others think you are!
"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer." Plutach. Not true, for there are always more worlds to conquer.

To me it's no different than my sister and her ships in SGRho. They crossed the sands in 92. The last one on the line graduated in 95. No one joined grad chapter and they stopped going back to their school for events. I asked her why and she said that between the hubby, kids and work there just wasn't time. They get together with each other but not the sorority at large.
People come and people go. It's a cycle. You keep some old heads around until the new heads become old. From what I've observed, everyone on BAF has kept in touch with someone. I've never seen an APB not get a response to let us know how so and so is doing. I like to discuss politics. Huffington Post, Politico, I should run for office politics. That's what R&R gives me. I think BAF is great but many people look at it as entertainment and then support. A couple of times Miz D and others have tried to bring it back to the basics but it doesn't happen. If the vets have tried and no one follows what do we do?

Hey Sharee!
You make very valid points. Let me be clear...I am not looking for people to post. I am not a frequent post originator, I am more of a reply poster as well. Like you, I only post when I have something to say, but I do offer up support as often as I can. I think by you offering support on your band expertise, whether on the board and in private messages, is exactly what BAF was and should continue to be about. Thank you!
In regards to Miz D's Shout Out posts, she should be commended on her diligence. I know she feels her efforts are useless. However, she does get a daily response and there are lurkers like you that see her post and choose to hold themselves accountable in private. What do we do? My advice would be for her to continue...because it IS needed.
Thanks for your reply!
