Family Fights 'Ridiculous' Benefit Denial

Dollar Tree Says No Payout for Murdered Worker Because Crime Was Racially Motivated

 I don’t know if an update has already been posted and I missed it, but I just wanted to make sure that those who were interested knew about this. 

 

I wrote to Dollar Tree and complained about their treatment of this family shortly after someone on the board posted about this story.  I received the following response a few days ago:

 

"Thank you for your correspondence regarding Taneka Talley.  Ms. Talley was the victim of a despicable, senseless crime. While Dollar Tree was advised that the claim was not covered under the state worker's compensation law, we felt that payment of these benefits was the right thing to do for Taneka's son. This matter has now been resolved to the satisfaction of the family."

That is some pitifully SAD shiot right there.... CHEAP *******S!!!!!

Thanks for the update I too wondered how it would work out.  DO you think they really paid the family?  Nice spin though how they blame it on the "law" and not on their desire as company to be cheap and greedy.

I didn't find any updates on the story when I looked on the web, but I think they'd be in a world of trouble if they claimed to pay the pay the family and didn't.
