OT: Arranged marriage - could you do it?

Aiight - I'm pissed off at work so I am on a 30min 'protest' break..... LOL!!!!!  Not enough time to make a picket sign and walk in front of the building - so I will just break on BAF.........

Soooooo - we all know WHAT an arranged marriage IS.... when two mofos get put together by other mofos and get married without meeting, dating or knowing each other......

SOME argue this works out better because you are forced to get to know the person in a whole different way - that dating has too many 'outs' and if you come into it knowing you can't leave..... it changes the focus...... hmmmmm

SOME say the shiot is crazy and no mofo should marry another mofo if they don't know em..........

Ionknow......   it would be different to just have a dude show up one day talking about 'honey I'm home'..... and knowing you CAN'T just stop calling this mofo for him to disappear WOULD put a totally different spin on things..... BUT...... I do so LOVE this one thing about MY life:

NO!  I need to know you, date you for a good long while and make sure you are working with something, pleasant to look at/smell, breath is right, not a freak in the prison sentance since, etc.

My friend is married to an Indian man who was married before in an arranged marriage.  The broad was totally crazy and tried to commit suicide twice.  She had been hospitalized 2-3 times for episodes but that wasn't disclosed and he had to place her twice during the marriage.

Not for me!

Ok, ok.... what IF...... the arrangement was done by someone who KNOWS you and you just got a regular, cute, everyday mofo.... you just didn't KNOW them.... not crazy, not stupid, or mean or nothing.... you just don't KNOW the mofo.....

Based on my recent dating history I can't trust my own intuition so hell maybe I'd give it a try.  Especially if Mom and Dad are gonna get a goat and 30 sheep out of it!

Well for myself I would have to say NO...I am muslim and I do know a few relatives and friends that did it sort of this way...My uncle had a sit down with his wife prior to marriage and they got married and had kids...When I went to my uncle about marrying my now fiance he had a problem with it because we were living together and stuff...His 25 year old daughter lives with her fiance so I did not see what the big deal was...My cousin, his step daughter, is definitely going to have a say in who her daughters marry...She is very strict...I know I could not do it...But to each its own.
