Do you notice changes in your body?

Curious as to how 'in tune' we are with our bodies post WLS - sure as we lose we don't really catch up mentally - but after you are down and down for a while - do you notice changes?

Here's why I ask - I said in Dec I was stepping up my weight training and wanted to build strength so I was going to be real agressive with the lbs I pushed - well - I can FEEL and TELL I am progressing because I have increased my resistance and reps - but to ME - my body still LOOKS the same - my calves have more definition like I like.... but that's about it.

My BF however..... INSISTS the shiot is different!  I have argued him DOWN about - even went Della Resse in Harlem Nights on his ass..... cause he just got new glasses last week - told him he was a blind mother****** - just like she told Redd about that OJ in the fridge!!!!(ETA - WAIT!!!  It was the tuna she called him blind about.......)

Anyway - **** still looks the same to me - other than being able to stomp a mudhole in a mofo's ass with less effort than before - no big deal......

So do you notice body changes either going up or coming down quickly - or do others point it out to you to 'kick' in your awareness?????

I was JUST on the phone with my bff that stayed at my house this weekend. She hadn't seen me since before the surgery. She said I grossly under talked my weight loss. I still don't see it like that, except my face. But everyone else does right off. Maybe if I don't look at myself in the mirror for a month and then look again I WILL see it. I notice it when I look at pictures, but not in the mirror. This whole thing is def a mind-fuck!!!!

I notice increased strength and stamena. Size and shape I don't see until someone brings it to my attention. So times not even then.

I still don't see it. My hubby and my kids keep calling me skinny and I keep calling myself fat. I shouldn't do that because the scriptures say, "As a man thinketh, so is he" so I need to be thinking that I'm skinny because the fat thinking has been going on long enough.

Hi, I'm considering the gastric bypass and the excess skin from the rapid weightloss is what bothers me. I have heard of people getting more surgery to correct it. What are you going to do? do u think exercise will correct it???

I know you didn't ask me - but Imma put my 2 cents in......

The excess skin all depends on 1 - how much you lose  2- the way you are built  3- what exercise you do while you are losing and 4 - your skin type

For me - I carried the bulk of my weight in my stomach area - and I worked out like a beast - so the only area that I couldn't get 'right' with exercise was my stomach - but hell - I've lost 200lbs!!!  Ain't no way you can make all that look just right!!  LOL

Those with less to lose who do a good workout, vitamin and skin care regime can usually avoid necessary plastics - but nothing gets in the way of vanity!!!! LOL

I am training for the chicago 1/2 marathon and I am working with weights now. I am noticing that I actually have muscles in my arms. The skin that hangs down still hangs but it is really, really empty now...like a thin slice of deli meat.

I also notice that I have ankles on both sides of my legs. Why I always thought they were only on the outside, I don't know. I can flex the schit out of my butt..or the muscle in my butt...aint no ass their.

Since I dont have a BF(whatever)my opinion is the only thing I have.

I'm definitely in a time warp.  It's like I realize it but don't really "see" it.  Everything is still shaped the same to me so all I see is gut and extra everything.  I think it's part of the reason I shop so much...to continually verify and validate that I am not a 24 anymore. Everyone is telling me I'm crazy, but I swear I don't see it as drastically as they do.

It is never too late to be what you might have been
