I eat a yogurt from Kroger's store. It is called carb control yogurt and it only has about 3 grams of sugar and 10 grams of protein and it is a Kroger brand. You can get a low sugar yogurt and mix some of your unflavored or flavored protein powder in it.

I am pre-op but I have 2 protein shake recipies you might like.

I uses frozen unsweetened fruit and I just thaws it in the fridge of if I am in a hurry throw it in the microwave for a few minutes.
I use Unjury protein also and soy milk b/c I am lactose intolerant but this should work with 2% or skim.

Strawberry Sorbet:

8 oz milk
1 scoop of protein stawberry or vanilla
1/4 cup starwberries.

Put stawberries in blender to get them nice and mushy ( no big chunks for pouch safety)
Add milk and protein....BLEND

My protien gets frothy, so I just sit it in the fridge till the bubble subside and it is so good.

Another that I got form a friend is:

Copycat Starbuck Frappichino

8 oz milk
Scoop Vanilla Protein
1 Serving of Haxelnut Decaf instant coffee( Tasters choice)
Shot of SF Davinci Hazelnut syrup

Blend together, let set in fridge to dissolve bubbles and enjoy! It tastes just like Starbucks and is SOOOOO Good if you gotta  have a coffee fix.

I hope you feel better and hope these help!

First congrat's on makin' it to the other side......I too like u was afraid of food but i knew i had to get the protein in.......i never did the protein drinks (just me) but i tried to get my protein thur my foods.  This early out u have time to adjust.....i was told by one program that after surgery there's a certain hormone that's release that decreases the desire for food....i think that was on point cause i couldn't stand the smell of food much less trying to eat it.....i concentrated on getting my fluids (water/sf liquids) and daily vitamin intake......some of the protein items i would do.....refried beans mixed w/ground turkey and a lil taco sauce, sf lattes (made w/skim milk), s/f carnation instant breakfast, burger king or wendy's chili, eggs & refried beans w/picante sauce....i too  found that foods that i loved before surgery no long appealed to me......i found it's about changing my mindset regarding foods that i wrote off before surgery......u are at the beginning of your journey.....u will have the rest of ur life to adjust to this life-changing journey.....make the most of this time!!!!

specialmsv........

I love greek yogurt and most brands have 10-11g protien per 1/2 cup. Mix in some strawberry SF jelly/jam...yummy! Tuna fish, egg salad, scrambled eggs, any kind of white flaky fish, crab cakes, salmon cakes.......those are a lot of the things I was eating early out. You have to start gettin some protien in. If all fails hold your nose and shot a protien bullet.....th eprotien in those is not preferred but it will do in a pinch. I hope you find some things you like!

Take your time -- leave mashed potatoes alone -- too many carbs for right now.  Try chili -- with or without beans -- that is a source of protein.  Since you have the powdered protein mix -- mix it with milk and frozen fruit -- blender -- that works well.  My favorite protein is a fruit drink protein called Isopure zero carbs -- MOVE SLOWLY AWAY FROM THE ORANGE == NA-AS-TY.  My favorties are Grape Frost, Alpine Punch and the Apple melon.  When I first started drinking those I'd do a 50/50 mix with water and now I drink them straight.  It comes in 20 ounce bottles and it is 40 grams of protein so if you drink the entire bottle you get half of the amt of protein that is recommended.  Oatmeal -- if you used to eat it you'll be able to eat it again.

I stretched out my weeks of going from one food stage to another.  For example, it the instructions was a week of soft foods I'd take it to two weeks -- just to be sure I'd be able to take the next stage of food.

Oh here's an idea for food -- those Bangquet Crock meals in the freezer section -- cook those and leave out the potatoes -- they are good.  I ate one of those during the week of pureed or soft foods.  Try it see if you like them.

Peace and Light
