Ok...I am 25/26 days out and am down to 257.8...This is good and all but I am scared to eat food...I still eat like I did the 1st 2 weeks after surgery...I am on the soft food stage and have tried mashed potatoes, I tried oatmeal once (SF and nasty), I tried cream of wheat (nasty), I have yet to make a protein shake and have 3 bags (I cannot see myself drinking it)...I LOVE SF applesauce (though it has no nutritional value)...I drink a lot of water but really want to start gettingmy protein in...I also tried cottage cheese and that was a disaster...Any ideas?

P.S. I have been missing from the boards lately...Had to replace my AC adapter to my laptop...Hope everyone is doing well.

As ****** up as this may sound I am gonna say... Be afraid, scared, terrified of it!

Sorry but that is my honest feeling about it...I'm just saying I have neva tried crack because I was afraid of it didn't want to be hooked... I pretty much equate food the same way

I definitely am staying away from things I know better than to eat...I tried fish (Dr. allowed) 2 weeks out and it made me so sick...Nurse tld me to try it again and eat it slowly...I am going to try better this upcoming week.

Congrats on an uneventful surgery!

Not sure if anyone mentioned this to you or other newbies, but your tastebuds may change. My tastebuds changed tremendously and it was like learning to eat all over again.

Now you will have to not only challenge yourself with food, you will have to become creative in the kitchen.

I started to love food I once detested like, yogurt (still love it), cottage cheese (don't go there no more), oatmeal (still eat it, but I use the reg and add 2% milk and splenda)....just different stuff. You will need to play around with different schit... don't be afraid.  Here is a GREAT tip(s):

Never try more than ONE new food a day! This way, if it doesn't agree with you, you will know what you added to your eating regimen.

Never try new foods away from home. JIC you dump.

DO NOT be surprised if you eat something to do and all is well, but tomorrow, that schitt makes you sick as all out!

When eating, eat very slow, allowing your pouch time to decide if it is going to do a 007 on your asse!

Hang in there and don't be SCARED! ~smooches~

I eat Danon ( i think it is by Danon)  Carb  Control in Strawberries and Cream, sometimes I will get Peaches and Cream.  They also make the yogurt smoothie. It is sweetened with Splenda I think. I am not sure. I have some in the fridge, but I"m not downstairs.

Also, there is DanActive (in the green). It is supposed to be help keep you regular

If you don't get your protein in then you'll become malnourished. The first thing I ate on my soft food stage was refried beans with melted cheese on them and I thought that was the best food I had ever eaten. I was pretty sick the first 5 weeks of my surgery so my hubby had to be patient with me and try to find something I would eat because he needed to get back to work. He would make my protein shakes and freeze them to a slushy and feed them to me and would buy little 10 oz bottles of water and make me drink so many ozs in so many minutes. Try sf jello. Mix some of the protein bullets in your jello before you refrigerate it.

It doesn't take long for us to become dehydrated so you must take care of you. My hubby forced the issue with me because I have other health issues and he needed to work. There is a list that someone has to make yummy protein shakes that will help with your tastebuds.

From what I understand about protein, it also helps to decrease or even eliminate loose skin when you're loosing an excessive amount of weight. I haven't had my surgery yet (it's Monday),  but from my pre-op course they couldn't stress that enough. Please get your protein in starting tonight! Best wishes to you!!
