I love BAF...going on 6 years now.  Initially, I came to learn about WLS from the AA perspective, now it's to get support and continue to give support to others.  It's a great place to be when folks act right, lol.

It's like one-stop shopping....you can get everything here.  Laughs, motivation,  friendship, drama (if that's somebody's thing), eating tips, recipes, tough-love (you are SO GOOD at that, lol) and for some people, even a little romance, lol.

Ain't no place like BAF!

Ok - about the tough love - is that REALLY 'right'?  I mean - should the board just be blanket 'all love and all good' support?

to me - the lack of tough love is what allowed so many of us to 'lull' ourselves into our obesity.  Now granted - not everyone responds or can HANDLE the tough.....

I am kinda rambling - but wondering if anyone should be critical at all......   The way I see it - some folks 'earn' their stripes - by losing and maintaining the loss - so those folk have done some things right and their insight or tips or guidance can be VERY helpful - but they were still former fat folk so can they REALLY say anything?

For some people, tough love is needed (myself included).  Some people just don't "get it" until somebody gets on their case and pushes them...it doesn't work for everyone though.

This is what the boards are for...we're all former fat folks just simply exchanging information.  I'd rather hear something from someone in the same position as I, rather than some skinny nutritionist  or friend that can't relate.

You sound like my mama talking about the skinny nutritionist!!!!  Would you REALLY take instruction from a FAT mofo???  LMAOOOOO

I saw an overweight trainer at my gym one time - I was like   this mofo can't tell me SHIOT except where the best Mexican food place is and we MIGHT argue about that cause I feel like I am the fat authority!!!!  LOL

LOL!  You're right!  Pre-WLS, I had a new PCP....that heffa told me that I was super-obese and that I needed to lose weight.  I asked her if she wanted to do this together, she was bigger than I was!

<----------- just fell the ***** OUT!!!!!!

No you did NOT say that ****!!!!!!  OMG - now THAT is hilarious!!!!!!!

I will say this - I am picky about who can tell me what - when I pick a personal trainer - I cannot do overly buff men, overly buff women, overweight anybody...... no stank breff, no lazy eyes..... LOL!!!

there's a trainer at my gym I would LOVE to work out with - but the mofo taught a yoga class I did one time - his voice is so damn soothing I SWEAR I damn near fell smooth asleep at the end of the last stretch...... naw - mofo gotta irritate me some to train me...... LOL!!!!

I come to see "The Mack Mama Show"!
Although I am not here as often as I use to be, I STILL lurk...I have  been here  over a year now.   I make comments here and there, I give support,  usually not  on the boards(BL), but there are people that I support.  I get lots of support just from reading what others are doing and going through, weight related and  personal.  I am guaranteed to get lots of laughs here.

When you devote yourself to achieving your goal, you will not be bothered by shallow criticism.

Actually Mack,  I  have been a OH member since 2004.   I was approved for WLS in 2005.   I was approved for the lapband.     My bmi at that time was 50 !!  I weighted in at 300 pounds    5'4     I chickened out.   I lost 130 pounds on my own.

Fast forward to 2008.  I am at 215 pounds and denied due to bmi below 40 !!!   bmi at  about 36ish.    The  300 pound big girl is back on my trail.  I see where this is going !!!

Now I am self pay, therefore,  I go with the sleeve.  (VSG)

To make a long story short.  I am here forever,  need the support.  This is an ever ending battle !!
