HELP.....Scale WON'T Move
Ok, I am sure you have probably seen this a million times. I met my new friend, RNY, on Oct. 6, 2008. So I am about 14 wks out and for the last 3 wks I have been at the same weight. Granted, I am losing slowly, about 32lbs to date, and believe it or not I am ok with that. Because you don't get all the questions and have to explain everything to everybody. But the NOT losing anything over the last few weeks is about to drive me insane. Before I was averaging 2-3 lbs per week. Then I actually gained a pound, the next week got that off and now I have not moved. I do not have a regular workout schedule yet. Start with a personal trainer on next Saturday. I do get in a little exercise here and there - travel 100% with my job. But that should not be an issue, because I have not been exercising regularly anyway. Don't get me wrong, I know I need to get on that and get moving and I am planning to do that with the trainer. I am good at getting in protein and water. I must admit, I substitute a meal with protein water. Believe it or not, I was never a big eater, not eating regularly was more of my problem than eating to much to often. Poor choices - sweets, convenience foods, etc.... I have not done anything differently and can not figure out why I am stalling!!!!!!!
I am open to any suggests or help. Should I be afraid? Call doctor's office? or just Chill?
This is driving me insane. I did not come this far to stop at 32lbs!!!
Help!

Hi,
Don't feel bad. I did the exact same thing. I didn't lose for about 3.5 weeks starting when I hit about week 10 or 11. But the weight loss picked back up after that. Several ppl that had surgery around the date I had it said they experienced a stall too. It comes with the territory. This won't be your last. Just make sure you are getting your water and protein. However, you do need to incorporate an excercise program, that is not likely to be the reason you are stalling. Your body just went through some tramatic stuff. It will adjust periodically to keep itself running and that will translate to you as a stall. Hope this helps, take care and talk with you soon!

I truly understand what u are going through. I had my stalls in this game of wieght loss and I believe everyone has so don't get down on yourself. What happend in my case was when the weight would come off it went in big numbers. I would go see my RNY one month and would have lost 15lbs then the next time I went I would only be down 5 or lower. What my RNY told me was that your body will catch up to the loss so that it's not starving itself. He also said don't ru**** you want to work for this because when it's done you want to know that you earned it and to also remember even though it seems like it you did not put the weight on over night .
Good luck and hope to keep in tough because we are going through simular troubles.

Hey there!!!! I couldn't find any info on your starting weight - so I don't know if you are what we call a 'heavyweight' or not. That matters cause heavier folk tend to lose more and consistently - but hell - heavier folk for MORE to lose! LOL - from your pics, you don't appear to be even CLOSE to a heavyweight.......
That said - you are doing what you are supposed to! Who told you the 2-3lb thing would go on forever? LOL - this WLS journey has stages - and you just came out of the 'sprint' out the door! LOL - you will continue to lose, your body has to adjust and reposition itself for the next stage - that's what the plateaus are. Just make sure you keep your protein, water and vitamins going on the nutrional side.
I am LOVING that you are about to get a trainer! My suggestion, since you are traveling so much - focus on weights. Cardio is an easy game - get some weight training techniques and exercises and you can build and work out wherever you end up. Most hotels has free weights and there are TONS of great exercises you can do with 10 - 15lb weights to start out. Building the muscle will challenge your body, tone you AND help you continue to burn the weight off!!
Ok - sorry to be long winded, I will 'dismount' the soapbox now..... good luck to you!!!!!

Thank you all for the advice. I feel so much better. I know that the stalling is apart of the process, but I did not expect this this early. I thought I was dealing with it well, but it was really beginning to weigh on me and I found myself fighting old habits. Craving the junk food and etc... It just gets so hard. It becomes such a mind game/battle. As I have been reading and rereading the profiles of friends and pages on here, it just seemed I could find no one who had experienced what I am experiencing. I guess I just needed to know my "friend-surgery" wasn't broken.
Thanks again for the advice and encouraging words. I promise to work on the exercise. I am actually excited about starting a workout program. Wanna tone up, because I am beginning to see what I might look like if I don't :-) ! Thanks again! Best wishes and Happy New Year.
