Mrs.Trina I would and have responded the same way you did, especially if the person is old.  Working for USDA Farm Service, many a farmer would refer to Blacks as Negros.  These same farmers have brought me the best gifts and went out of their way for me as a person.  Whether the comment meant good or bad I usually just let it go.

You know....I don't think I could've let that slide. NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM!! WORK OR NO WORK he would've been schooled with a quickness.

Not saying be ignorant about it but I think I would've had to have had him explain himself and the connotation that was implied, whether he meant it or not. I think some people say things because they have gotten away with it and it is their pure ignorance .

Im not the type to be down right ignorant but you not just going to say anything to me or my children and think it's just going to be taken lightly.
