Do you diss Obama?

Good Morning DA!

I just walk away and smile when this happens.

Good morning, Faith.

But you're always smiling (atleast in your avatar you are) so I don't think they would see that as an act of defiance on your part.  Now if you cuss them out, slap a few faces, and then threw a stapler or coffee cup at them or something then they'd probably think to themselves, "Hmmm... Faith may not like us talking about her boy Obama like that."  Just a suggestion.

I don't diss him verbally...but mentally I'm sick of hearing his name.

To say that the country is going to go thru hard times over the next 8-10 months is not a "diss" of the president-elect.  The mess that this nation is in started its downward spiral on September 11, 2001.  Because of the fact that it took all these years to get to this point (mind you, it was unchecked because the previous administration was more interested in waging unpopular wars than in dealing with national policy).

Granted, its possible to be tired of hearing his name, but as president, his name is going to be heard a lot as president of this nation.

I agree w/ everything that you've said. Don't get me wrong I voted for him as he was the better man with the hopes that he is focused on getting the nation back on track.

As a nation we are spoiled.  Some don't seem to understand that Obama or no Obama that we are possibly looking at years of clean up; that things are not going to magically improve overnight.

It is natural that we will hear much related to any President in office.  When I say I'm sick of hearing about Obama it's from the stance that many have totally commercialized him; that you can't hear one thing negative about the man without people catching feelings; and the numerous commercials...crying black people...Now I know I can do anything...be something...didn't your family teach you that before????? You know, you are absolutely right about the "Commercialization of Obama".   Around where I work, I pass on a daily basis, vendors selling Obama t-shirts, calendars, buttons, planners, etc.  On television, you see coins, whatever.

I swear I have NEVER seen any president hawked so much in my life.

Though parents have, in the past, surely said, "You can do anything, BE anything you want.." *****ally, TRULY believed it before now?

D, to be honest, I never ever thought I'd see an African-American president in my lifetime because of the racist tendancies of this nation.

I guess it just happened to be a "perfect storm" to bring this all about.

JMO.  :-)

Once again agreed with everything you've said except....I was taught and truly believed that hard work will open doors, if you don't believe in yourself nobody will....I didn't need Obama for that.  Those who lay on their sofas talking about change but doing nothing about it.  Blamming the man because they don't have the job they want (nor do they work to get)...I can't wait to see how Obama as president will change that. It will be a different day...new story to justify...hell before his term ends I've no doubt that folks will find ways to blame him for their failure.

I agree with both of you.  They are hyping it all up like HE was the one who walked on water and healed the blind.  Ya know.  But on the real it does my heart good to see him try and bring us all together under one nation, rather than these pockets of ethnicities and seperatist camps that we have now in the US.

Wow.  I must need a nap or something because I'm starting to make sense to me.  This is scary y'all!

I dunno, maybe I am dissing him on the sly because to be honest, I am not with all the hype like most people are.  Running to the inauguration, taking days off just because.  I cannot get with it.  Believe me, I am proud as heck that we have a black president, but to me its over-hyped.

Treena, I don't think that qualifies as dissing.
That's just keeping things in perspective.
The hype is what I'm sick of....not Obama.
