I am addicted to this show and as they are introducing the new season'ss conrtestants one VERY large guy states he had a RNY already.  AS someone getting surgery again tomorrow related to my original WLS it scares the hell outta me to see someone not work their tool to the best.  I wish i knew what it would take to not be one of those people.

Michelle so odd you would post in regards, I have NEVER watched this show but so happen to tune in tonight....

To answer what it takes to be an successful WLS or just a person who is sucessful with losing the weight AND keeping it off is a LIFESTYLE change... I always at awe when I pick up a magazine or read a story  on-line about people who lose xxx pounds WITHOUT surgery. Just remember LIFESTYLE and you will do just fine....

Thanks Rhonda.  I'm thinking its just pre-surgery nerves getting to me.

We started talking about this on the main board too. He said he had rny "blank" surgery. He had some unfamiliar word after it. He is really big now and that is really, really, scary as hell.

I was shocked at how large he was being a post op.  At work I just did a preop call with a lady that weighs in at 245 lbs after having a bypass in 2002.  The risk of failure is scaring the bejeezuz out of me right now.

Michelle, if you know what it takes to work your tool, try not to get too scared.  It's a process and a life change.  From what I hear, the main thing is to stay really compliant in the losing phase, and to really work hard to lose the 10-15lbs that might sneak back on periodically.

You can do this!  I hope your surgery goes well and your recovery is quick.

I think we all have this fear somewhere deep in the back of our minds. One day at a time...hell, sometimes one BITE at a time.

WHy in the hell is everybody sweating so much on this episode? Is it hot where they are or something? I mean, not during the workout but just when they standing still at the weigh ins and stuff. Even the host is sweating her ass off!
