Hey everyone I am new
Welcome to BAF, fellow bandster!
I perfer the protein powder because you get more bang for your buck! As far as taste is concerned, I like MUSCLE MILK but it's higher in calories and carbs than some of the others. I am currently using ISOPURE protein powder which is recommended by my nutritionist. It is not a tastey as most shakes, but it's low in calories and ZERO CARBS. You can get it at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. My wife just had lap band surgery and I'll share with you the same thing I advised her...forget about what tastes good, at least for now! Choose your protein but which one will give you the nutrition that you need and a cost you can afford. Most of the shakes that taste good may not be a good choice for you. As a lap band patient, you will have to watch you calories, carb, and fat intake closer than the other WLS patients.
My tips for the lap band:
- Start practicing eating slowly and chewing your food NOW! You will regret not mastering this skill later...you will not like the feeling of food stuck in your band...TRUST ME!
- If you are not excerising yet...start now! This is will a major component to your success with the lap band.
- DO NOT compare your weight loss with someone else who has had RYN, VSG, or any other WLS. Your loss will be slower than them even if you had surgery at the same time.
I had my band done back in January of 2008 and have lost 123 lbs. so far. It is going to take hard work and dedication, but if I can do it anyone can!
Let me know if I can be of assistance or encouragement to you in the future.
Best Wishes,
D
