I have a co-worker that had the revision and the insurance paid for it. However the revision is only a band-aid and not the root of the problem. I hate to say that. But that is the case for me as well.
We gotta fix the real problem first at least I know I do.

Smile for me.........

Hello,
I am scheduled for a revision from the lapband to duodenal switch. I have Medicare and BCBS and it is covered with no questions asked.

To my understanding, the same process that apply for wls in general will also apply for the approval of revision surgery. Some insurance companies WILL need details from the surgeon outlining the reason (s) for needing a revision.

I am adding a link to the revision board to the need for revision page. Read all of the information and it will give you a good understanding as to why revisions are often needed, the risks, insurance information, etc.
Many think that needing a revision is a failure on the part of the patient and while this is true in some instances, 90% of the need for a revision has nothing to do with being a failure. It bothers me that sometimes other wls patients will say this. Every person is different as it relates to the FULL wls journey and every obese person isn't a glutton with miserable issues.

Some go into their first surgery knowing that they will have a revision due to surgery having to be done in two parts due to risks and other factors.

Best wishes on you research and God bless.
