I was formerly VERY anti WLS too - and flipped the script myself.  I had a chick that I was semi cool with but I straight HATED on her when she had WLS and lost weight!!!

Good thing about me is that I am so fickle I ain't STAY hating on her..... she is my BFF and road dawg for LIFE!!!!  she drove me to the hospital for my WLS.......

Give your friend some time - but don't count on her - just like you working some stuff out, so is she!

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

I don't candy coat things and I am about as real as they come so here goes.

That is NOT your friend. You just had a major surgery and in all honesty you could have passed away.  Where was this so-called friend?

They should also call this friend lost surgery because you will lose some folks along the way. Misery loves company. People that are use to you being the big girl or the big friend or yall were the big girls together.. ummm yeah they will probably fall by the side of the road. LET THEM!!!
This is going to be a struggle physically and mentally and by the end you may very well have two or three real friends that will be there through out the entire process. Don't be afraid to let go of the people and the weight. It's going to hurt but no one ever said it would be easy! its not easy but it will be worth

Go Well,
Lena

You know what?  Those were my exact thoughts!  What if I had to be rehospitalized?  What if I died?  She'd never know.

As of 8pm ET, I'm still waiting to hear from her.  We'll see...

Thanks for chiming in and being a straight shooter.

Just wait Ms. Double Oh Sexy!

They are going to be dropping like flies when they see your weight coming off-- hopefully you will blow it off soon and you two can get back to being friends.  I was totally against wls for about 2 years.  Girl, I was sounding just like Oprah  (actually I was really scared to go in the hospital, to get cut and I was really scared that I would be in a lot of pain)

After my lap band surgery, several people just started acting like I became invisible.  Quit speaking, quit calling and just  started acting like they couldn't see me. I'm not even at goal and they are still hating.  A few have said that it's easy for me because I had the surgery and I will eventually lose my weight.

It really use to hurt me and now I don't even try to fix it anymore.  Some even have the nerve to ask if I'm going to lose any more weight - I will not be controlled by the emotions of others.

Just keep letting your sexy shine!

Unfortunately, weight is not the only thing you will lose on this journey; however God replaces your "dead weight" with bigger and better things/people. I had a girlfriend that I had know since I was three years old, stopping speaking to me out of the blue after I lost my first 50lbs, which took no time at all. She had wanted the surgery but was denied because honestly, she was chubby..not obese and she did not have any health issues and was capable of exercise, she just did not want to put in the work. Of course she was disappointed about being denied and I promised her that after I got to a size in which I could walk, I would be happy to exercise with her. We went from talking at least 3-4 times per day to one day she was not returning my calls; nor calling me. Take it in stride Woo. When they say that this surgery is "life changing" no one said it was just about the weight...it is indeed "LIFE changing"

YES WE CAN!
I will never consider myself a failure...unless I stop trying.
