MOM -My Best Friend

Hey BAF,

I just need to get something off my chest.  As, some may know,  my Mother has been sick for some time.  She has been a fighter thru 3 strokes, 2 mini heart attacks Kidney Failure, Dialysis and several infections.  Even the doctors had given up on her back in September when she was last in the hospital.  We kept praying that all will be better, and she pulled thru again.  Well, this time, I don't think she will make it.  On Christmas morning all my sisters and my nephews and my baby went to see her at the nursing facility.  She was laughing and talking to us for about 3 hours.  She even ate sweet potato pie.  Well two days later,  She was rushed to emergency due to lack of breathing.  She would take a breath every 30 to 40 seconds.  At that point they put her on the ventilator to regulate her breathing (Total life support).  Well, she has also been put on blood pressure medication to keep her pressure up.  It keeps dropping dangerously low without medication.  She has some type of infections, but the doctors cannot locate the source. They believe it is a UTI, but since she has kidney failure, it is hard to tell.  Well, to some it up,  We (MY sisters and I) have decieded to remove her from the ventilator this evening.  Only God knows what will happen.  I have so much weighing on my heart, that I cannot think straight.  I just needed to release some things just to some what get my head right.  If God should call my Mom home tonight, it will be okay, for I know she will always be looking down me and my family.  But it will hurt so much.  Please keep me and my family in your prayers and thanks for listening.

 Vanessa, I pray that God will comfort you and your family during these trying times.  You and your sisters are wonderful children to have made the choice to be unselfish and preserve your mother's comfort and dignity.  If it is her time to go, I hope that you all will be at peace with that decision.   Take care of yourself and hold on tight to each other. 

We have accepted that fact that she will not get any better, but it is still hard to let go.  Thanks for your conforting words and prayers.

Now I know why some people are not happy during the holiday seasons.  Too much sadness.  And to  add insult to injury,  my birthday is tomorrow.  Too much heartache to celebrate.

 

Vanessa, my heart goes out to you.  I know exactly what you are going through right now.  We had to do the same thing for my precious MIL.  It was a hard decision but the right one.  Its in the hands of the Lord now.  Your mother will thank you for the decision.  Praying that the transition is easy for her and the family.
