My best to you for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery!

BTW - it's normal for your emotions to be going crazy!  I had never had surgery before either and was scared and excited all in one.

 Going up for you tomorrow!

Congratulation on your big day!  What you are feeling is perfectly normal.  I was about ready to walk out of the hospital before it all went down...that's how nervous I was!  You'll be just fine.

Girl you are gonna do great.  Mine was friday, i am sore and tired but all went well, I HAVE MY SLEEVE!  Take your time, and remember to sip, sip sip your water and drinks dont get dehydrated, I am a little bit.  I gulped one time and I will never do that again it hurt's like someone is ripping out your insides.  I am on puree'd food today, and I am able to tolerate alot so far with the strained soups.  Good luck and I am praying for a smooth recovery for you.  I took out my OnQ pump today its a local pain med that is fed in with tubes into your surgery area.  I have 4 - half in*****isions, one of which is inside my belly button so not alot to worry about scar wise.

God Bless you and I will say a prayer for you.

Thanks everyone for your support...it means a lot...i think another reason why i am nervous is because im in a clinical trial so its a 1/3 chance that i may be choosen to have what they call the "control procedure" which is where you undergo anesthia and go into OR but you dont get an actual surgery but you still have to follow diet like you got surgery...and i wont know for one whole entire year if i got the surgery or not...that worries me too!!

You are going to be just fine! I have not had surgery, I am a hopefull, but your story i similar toi mine. I have been an atkins addict, going up and down. No matter how much I loose on Atkins, as soon as I smell carbs I double what I have lost. It is just miserable.

Can you share what type of surgery you have decided to go with? Is it the lapband?

The surgery is called TOGA (TranOralGastroplasty) . Its a new procdure that is in the clinical trial phase in a few states. There is the toga instrument that is a flexible tube that goes down the esophagus and then the stomach is stapled as a verticle sleeve....there are no incisions what so ever. The surgery will soon be approved by FDA when all the clinical trials are completed and it will soon become an outpatient procedure. Right now i have to stay overnight though. The expected weight loss is more than with the lap band but not as much as with the RNY... The surgery can be compared to the lap band and Vertical gastric sleeve....

im not sure what i can say about the procedure..i think its a really neat new way of bariatric surgery and im happy to be apart of this trial... there is a downside though...1 out of 3 people have to get what they call the "control procedure" which is when the stomach is not stapled. You will not know if you had the actual procedure or not until a yr is up ....hope that answers all your questions...
