Bra/ Breast Reduction Questions

Hi All,

I was reading the "What was your bra size" post and it got me to thinking...I am pre-op and I will tell anybody who would listen that itwould be a happy day to be a C or B cup.  I had lost a large amount of weight about 9 years ago and then re-reganed it over the last 4 years or so.  Honestly, a goodly amount  of the re-gain all went to the girls.  My band size is 44 but the cup size is well larger than anything I read on that thread...I'm embarrassed to say it.  Its a pain in the shoulders/neck mostly But I am tall 5'10 1/2 and at least I delude myself into believing that helps some.

Big boobs are over-rated for the most part.  I can't even think about sleeping on my stomach and the cheapest bra I can find  - that I have to go to specialty shop for is around $30.00 though I have paid $60.00 are more for a bra.

Question:

I know after surgery these girls are going to deflate like baloons 2 days after the B-day party. [they did before]  I know you can get a breast lift surgery but if you do that do you have to get an implant ?

Its best to wait until you have a stable weight loss to get a breast reduction - right?

For all you who had an open surgical procedure - was wearing a bra painful immediately post-op?  For me going to work without a bra [or out in public] just won't work.

I think a big part depends on what your surgerry type will be.  I personally had the band and weight loss is slower so my skin is being a bit more forgiving than if I dropped 100# in 6 months.

I had a breast reduction about 2 years before my band and I haven't noticed any change in the actual volume of my breasts while the band size has changed.

If you have any other questions, PM me.

I am not speaking from personal experience, but that of others.

An implant is only required (or requested) is cases where there is little breast tissue remaining, and the patient would like a larger cup size or a rounder/fuller cup. But there are enough instances in which the initial cup size was so large that the remaining breast tissue is enough to fill a large cup size.

For any plastic surgery on the breasts, you're given a sports bra like supportive bra for post op. A friend of mine had hers enhanced, and had to wear that. I'm sure the ladies on the plastic surgery board could give you more insight. Also if you check the web pages of various plastic surgeons, you can look at before and after pics of breast reductions, and some indicate whether an implant was used and what type of implant was used. Hope that helps

In May, I was a 46DDD prior to surgery.  I have lost 84 pds and I am a 36H.  They sag WAY more than I expected.  I am waiting a few more months before I go see a Dr.  I am embarrassed as they droop A LOT.

Even at a 36H - when I was fitted, I had to pay $60 per bra at a specialty store.  I am waiting to see where I am at the year mark.  I hope that insurance will pay for it but, not sure....

I had VSG surgery.

I had a breast reduction a year prior to having lapband surgery.  My cup size has not changed since having lost weight.  Here is what I can tell you from my personal experience.  It really depends on if your breasts are composed of more fatty tissue versus breast tissue.  If its fatty tissue then they will decrease as you lose weight.  However, if they are composed more of breast tissue there is a huge possiblity that they will actually increase as you lose weight.  Your fat cells store estrogen and as you lose weight the estrogen is released from your fat cells thereby increasing your chances of your bust size increasing.

I would definitely talk with a plastic surgeon about the issues you are having.  My surgery was completely covered by insurance because of the neck/back/shoulder pain I was having.  Just know that you have to take off a certain amount of weight to be covered by your insurance.  You should be able to contact customer service and ask them what is the criteria.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me.
