5 Days Post-Op: I Have Some Questions!

Hey Lady, thanks for the input.  I appreciate the concern.  But I am following my doctor and nutritionists instructions to the letter.  Today (day 3 at home post op) is when I'm allowed to start full liquids - and yogurt is on my list.  I will be on full liquids for 2 weeks and then progress to pureed for another 3 weeks.  Just FYI...

Please continue to follow your doctor's instructions.... as my surgery was quite some time ago, changes have obviously been made.... As I used to say all the time, "I am not a doctor, but I do play one on tv..." lol! I sincerely apologize for telling you anything that goes against what your doctor told you....

Well, I would advise you to make sure the yogurt is as soft as possible.... when foods are cold or hard, they are really hard on the pouch... maybe you can take it out of the fridge an hour before eating it.... or nuke it for a few seconds.... IDK.... at any rate, wishing you all the best on your recovery phase of this journey.... get ready for the pounds to start running away from you....

No harm, no foul Sis.  LOL at the doctor comment.  My partner is a licensed "medical doctor" in Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Bang-Bang-Bangladesh... but she is not allowed to practice here.

I'm not too gung-ho on trying the yogurt again today, but when I eat it next, I'll try the room temperature thing.  Thanks for the advice!

It sounds like you ar doinf pretty good.

I'm not sure about your pain other than if its trapped gas if y our procedure was done laporascopically.  I know I was more sore on the left because that's the side my port is on.

Full liquids I didn't do any tomato based products like tomato soup, occasionally some milk products made me a little nauseus.

I remember being much more tired than I anticipated I would be.  My procedure was done as an outpatient and was pretty quick, so I thought I would bounce back fast.  I also remember Gas-X being my friend for a few days.  The only other thing that caught me off guard was the change in bowel habits-I won't bore you with details.

Hey,

Yes my left side hurt more and Monday makes 3 weeks post op and the left side still has a little discomfort, but not bad at all

On full liquids I hated EVERYTHING...The soups were not good and nothing was..I have yet to try a protein drink and have 3 bags of different protein..I went back to clear liquids..Now on soft foods these are the things I eat/drink: diluted juicy juice (apple or white grape), I love really cold water, SF apple sauce, SF popsicles, eggs, I had oatmeal once (SF), I had a little of the low card slimfast, I had mashed potatoes w/ little gravy from boston market and that was like heaven on earth, This past Monday I had tilapia and it made me soooo sick, so I stuck t really soft food, the Dr. said I can have it...My goal for this upcoming week is to try some protein shakes, try tuna (scared of that), try greek yogurt and cottage cheese...

Hurdles..I have no complaints thus far..I am coming down and feeling okay..Just tired of being home and looking forward to getting back into my 14/16's (I have so many clothes from when I lost weight before)

 I hope this helped.
