Lap Band on 09/30/05 with
I am long time bandster..lost over 130 pounds, but recently gained a few back. But still loving my band, it is very easy to get back on track with the band if you fall off the wagon.

You may want to lurk the lap band forum too, to get ideas on how living with the lap band is to get you prepared.

I did not do a liquid diet, I ate only tuna and crackers for 1 month and lost about 20 pounds before surgery. Make sure you fully research on how the lap band works, it takes most bandsters about 3-5 fills before they reach a good fill level to start losing weight rapidly this is why it typically takes banded folks longer to lose weight than RNY folks, RNY folks come out of the hospital with a tiny pouch ...we have to wait for our restriction..but once you do get a good fill level and you follow the band rules of protein first..the weight drops quickly.

Good luck

I am a sloppy eater- meaning I am the snack monster- for real....

hi there...the snacking must stop...the band only works when you work it...with the band you will be able to snack all damn day if you want...because most things that we snack on are considered to be slider foods...so they'll usually go down with no problem unless you have major restrictriction...lap band is truly just a tool to assist you in eating the right portions and helping to control yr hunger by allowing you to stay full longer...but only by eating the right foods and following the bandster rules will you be successful..try and cut down on all the snacking now...and if you must please choose healthier snacks...not trying to be harsh just keeping it real...the band is no miracle tool it Will Not work by itself......Good luck to you...

hey zetanett  i was banded about 9 months ago and have lost about 70ish pounds.  i personally believe the band would benefit those who are volume eaters moreso than snackers.  but, that's just my opinion.  i'd say keep doing your research because as the others have said, the band, like other wls, is JUST a TOOL.  if you feel that you can put forth the required effort to work the band, you will be successful.  good luck to you!

Hi and welcome to OH and BAF.  Like LaVerne on any given day, I consider my Lap-Band surgery a success.  I just recently begin a serious workout program with trainer and all.  If I had only did this in the beginning I coulde be closer to or at my goal.  However, I am thankful for where I am.  I would like to lose 20-30 more pounds.  I will continue working out to shape/tone/define/sculpt my body.  The most important thing for you to remember is that WLS is a tool, so no matter which surgery type you decide upon you will have to put in the work to achieve the maxium results.
