I would give it a little time.... the more water and protein i drank, my scars got better and better.... wait until you get a little further out - see what you look like in about 6 months and then go from there.... i had lap rny also and my scars are so small, you can hardly tell there are there.... of course there are scar treatments available, but wait and see if you'll even need them...

Hi Slimin08, I had lap RNY as well and i had several incisions from a few other surgeries other than RNY and I used Ambi Skin Tone Cream and all of my scars are gone, you can barely see them and I am fairly light complected and the only scar I have left that you can see is where my drain was....I had RNY in Feb 06, then i had scar tissue surgery in November of 06 done lap, then in July 07 I had gall bladder surgery along with a twisted bowel. With a few of the surgeries in went into the same incisions, but i did have a few new ones.  I swear by the Ambi, i use it on my face for dark spots caused by pimples and it does work!  and it isn't that expensive either!

Thanks. I'll give it a try. How soon after surgery did you start? Also, did you notice a buid up of scar tissue under your skin?

I didn't have scar tissue under my skin, my incisions are smooth now....i had scar tissue from my pouch to my intestine, and it had wrapped around my intestine....I think I started using after all my incisions were closed and healed...You may be too early out to start using it now(unless you are absolutely sure they are completely closed and healed)

All of my scars raise... It is heriditary. I had a Breast Reduction 5 years ago and used a product called Emu Oil on my scars under my breasts and around my nipple area.. (SORRY IF TMI) and it helped significantly.. The only scars you can really see are underneath my left breast and that is because I had post surgical problems. I got it on the website I used when I was researching... The link to see it is... Well i looked and they don't sell anything anymore, but I found another site... http://www.emustore.com/  I know it sounds weird but it worked...

Also AMBI I swear by two.. I had a burn on my forehead from when I was 10 and the scar never whent away. I started usiung Ambi soap and WOW I would never know that it was there

Hope this helps

Lap Band on 02/13/06 with
mederma a little pricey, but worked for me.  CVS have their store version of mederma that suppose to be the same thing for about $5 less.
