Hi RoRo,

I usually will make the following for New Year's (because my arse is in love with food)

Porkchops or Pork Roast
Blackeye peas
Cabbage with neckbones
Rice
Candied Yams
Cornbread

I have never heard of the $$ thing.  I am usually out and partying with the same group of people every year so that won't change this year.  I will be shaking my arse on the dance floor all night.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

Okay. I guess you don't recognize me because of the new avatar. I'm a part of the Houston crew too. I had plans for New Years, but due to recent events, I am making some adjustments. Just wanted to know where things would be happening around town.

My superstitions are clean laundry, and black eyed peas, rice and greens for good luck and money.  But also let a man walk into the house first for New Year's.  Never knew what it meant but you know how mama and grandma always told u but never gave u the meaning.  Bringing in the New Year in church but I don't think that works cause I did that last year and haven't been to church in the last 6 months!

And I try to not to go into the New Year with the same mess from the previous year!!  (I made this up)  LOL!!

see the only thing I really "believe" in is a clean house.  My mom always told us you have to have a clean house for the new year.  But, I think that was my moms way of making sure when we took our selves back to school she didn't spend all day cleaning up our mess from winter break.

Then I think who you bring the year in with will have the most impact on your year.  i guess that is why i usually bring it in with family.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
