I had the big wedding my first marriage 300+ guests, all that. This time I was more interested in just getting married. When we got engaged 6/07, he was more interested in getting married sooner than later. He asked what date I had in mind and I just said....It doesn't matter, jut sometime next year. Well he picked the first Sat in '08 1/5/08 LMAO and thats when we did. I did have a wedding just in St. Thomas with my closest friends and family. You can see from my pics I also wore the big white dress....and didn't care!! LOL

Our wedding date was at a milestone in our 5 year relationship.  I wanted to be married before turning 21, he wanted this to continue as is.  I gave him a choice.  He could marry me or watch me date and marry someone else.  Six months later he realized I was for real, we got married on Ground Hog Day in 1974 before I turned 21 in September.

There are times we ponder that decision but many, many more we are happy for the outcome.    Yeah, we have the scars that come with marriage but as all of us know, sometimes we have to go through some stuff to get where you we to be.  I chose marriage and surgery they are working for me.  I don't have any plans of changing either one.  However if the band or the husband reject me.  I will survive.

We chose the Saturday that was close to the date we met which turned out to be February 12th.  I always get two gifts... one for our anniversary and one for Valentines.

Well we got married 3 months into dating 2/22/08, by the JOP, but had our actual wedding on our 1 year anniversary last month 11/22/08, just happened to be lots of family in town for Thanksgiving holiday!

I'm not married but I can understand picking a date close to or on a holiday, made up or real.  Helps to remember it and more people may be able to attend if you want a large gathering.  I would not pick a birthdate of bride or groom or anybody else though.  Call me superstitious but I think that is bad luck and may doom the nuptuals.  Seen it happen.  If I ever marry, I plan to be married forEVER.

Who is getting married on Valentine's Day next year?  That should not be a hard date to forget.  Why wait a year?  I say just do it.  Why play around acting like you tryna get to know them when you want to marry them?  Unless you are just dating...

the 'Nike' approach to nuptuals?  Just do it?  LOL!!!
