I need help uploading a picture to my avatar.  I keep getting an error message that says this website only holds 20,000 mb.  But I was able to upload a picture to a photo album.  Can someone explain how I get this to work?

What program do you have the pic saved in?

forgive me if I sound ignorant, but this is the first time I ever tried to down load pictures to the computer.  But it is saved as a JPEG image.  is that what you meant?

Not ignorant at all!  That's the answer I was looking for!

Hopefully you have Microsoft Picture Manager.  If you do - open the pic using it.  If you click in the top toolbar on 'Picture' - one of the options is 'Compress'  chose the Web page and the app will resize the pic for you and show you how many KB the pic will be - then click ok and save the new size.  Then you can add it as an avatar.

The reason you can get it into a photo album and not the avatar is because the picture size allowed for the album is much bigger than for the avatar.

thanks Mac Mama and Star.  I figured it out now.

An easy way
1. Upload pic to your profile page
2. After upload copy the url link to the pic, its on the right hand side of the page
3. Paste the link to the box that says -from another website or something like that
Wahlah-new avie

Another way
Resize it and download it to your computer using a program like phtoshop or photobucket
You could also copy and paste that link to upload your avatar
