Credit Union AL:L THE WAY...except the mortgage which is through GMAC...and I kindly write them a check every month and they have to ca**** through my credit union

call me iggnorant, but whats the difference between a bank and a credit union?

Banks are corporations - they are businesses looking for profit - bottom line.

Credit unions are more like small businesses - their rules of incorporation are different, they are smaller and not driven by profit like banks are........

Okay I hear ya... Banks suck. However, when I get a check from a credit union, it takes FOREVER for the check to clear, up to 10 days!  I hate it when people give me a credit union check. If it is with a commercial bank, I generally open an account there so I can get my cash right away. Problem is, now I bank at 4 different banks, and one credit union.

BTW, if their credit union check bounces, it can take another 3 days for me (commercial) to find out. That's almost half a month before I can get my money!  ARGH! (I wish I could require that renters use a commercial bank, but I can't)
