AM I EATING TOO MUCH???

I AM ONE MONTH OUT AND I CAN EAT ALMOST HALF A CUP OF FOOD!  ACTUALLY IT'S MORE LIKE A THIRD OF A CUP.  NOT EVERY TIME I EAT BUT SOME TIMES.  I KNOW THAT IN THE NUTRITION CLASS KELLY(DIETICIAN) SAID TO MEASURE ALL OF THE FOOD WITH A MEASURING CUP AND I DID AT FIRST BUT NOW I JUST EYEBALL IT, BUT EVEN AFTER THAT I CAN TAKE AT LEAST THREE MORE BITES AND NOT FEEL FULL, BUT I DO STOP EATING CAUSE I FEEL JUST SATISFIED. (IS THAT MY NEW FULL FEELING?)

I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT ANY FURTHER THAN THAT BUT I AM AFRAID THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO EAT MORE, AND MORE, SOONER THAN I THOUGHT IF I DON'T STICK TO THE MEASURING CUP.  TO MAKE IT WORSE I MISSED MY 3 WK F/U LAST WEEK SO  I HAVEN'T GOT TO TALK TO MY SURGEON ABOUT IT.  I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS THANKFULLY AND I HAVE BEEN DOING THE TREADMILL THREE TO FOUR TIMES A WEEK.

THE LAST THING I WANT TO DO IS STRETCH OUT MY POUCH.  IF I WERE TO STRETCH IT OUT, WOULD I FEEL IT? OR DOES IT JUST HAPPEN W/O ANY WARNING.  I AM DEFINITELY GOING TO START MEASURING AGAIN!
HAVE ANY OF YOU HAD ANY SIMILARITIES TO THIS AND IF SO WHAT DID YOU DO?

There is no proof that carbonation actually stretches the pouch.  Actually there has been much written to the contrary.  What soda does for you is fill you with gas making some uncomfortable and the empty sugar calories put weight on you.  Example a coke supposedly has 30+grams of sugar but it is believed to contain quite a bit more.

I will admit that I am a soda drinker. Stopped only for as long as I was in the hospital having surgery.  Did it stretch my pouch? No...I still can't eat.  Does it make me have to work out harder having put weight on me when I go overboard drinking them....yes.

DEFINITELY DON'T WANNA DO THAT.  I DIDN'T GO THROUGH ALL OF THIS TORTURE FOR NOTHING.  I DON'T EVEN DRINK SODA AT ALL.  I NEVER WAS A BIG SODA FAN BUT AFTER HAVING KIDS FOR SOME REASON IT DIDN'T APPEAL TO ME ANYMORE.  I USED TO DRINK IT MAINLY WHILE HAVING ****TAILS.  BUT NOW I AM A S/F KOOL-AID PERSON AND I NEVER USED TO DRINK KOOL-AID BEFORE,  BUT I THINK IT TASTES BETTER THAN CRYSTAL LIGHT.

What food is it you're eating that you can get down a 1/2 to 1/3 of a cup?

when you eat - are you uncomfortable at all?  Your pouch is telling you and giving you the satisfaction feeling - it will also let you know when you are 'pushing' the boundaries......

WELL, I AM ON THE SOFT FOOD DIET I EAT MOSTLY THINGS LIKE POTATOES (MASHED, SCALLOPED,FRIES) NOODLES, SOFT VEGGIES,BANANAS, RICE, APPLE  SAUCE, BAKED CHICKEN, MAYBE, ONLY IF IT'S WELL COOKED AND MOIST, SALAD, LASAGNA, CHEESE, S/F YOGURT,SOUTH BEACH PROTEIN BARS, ENCHILADA'S ETC. ALMOST ANYTHING AS LONG AS I MAKE SURE IT'S A PUREED TEXTURE BEFORE I ACTUALLY SWALLOW IT.  I MAKE SURE I WAIT 15-20 MIN. BEFORE EATING IF I HAVE DRANK ANYTHING  AND 60 AFTER I EAT TO DRINK AGAIN.

You shouldn't be eating salad until at least 3mos PostOp. I'm surprise that you can feel that you overeat pastas/rice.  Even at 5yrs PostOp those blow up in my tummy and make me uncomfortable or sick.

Sounds like a lot of what you're dealing w/ is head hunger.  You need to learn to push yourself away from the table (so to speak).  You're eating a lot of starches whereas you should be concentrating on proteins such as refried beans, fish, grinded up chicken or tuna.

Well - the foods you are eating will digest quicker - if you were eating regular chicken or beef or things like that - I'd be willing to bet you couldn't get that much down.

It actually sounds about right to me - check with your doc if you are truly worried........

Stretching of the pouch is not an immediate action it takes some doing. Speak to your Surgeon about how much you're eating.  Only he would know if your portions are acceptable based on the size of the pouch he made.
