Anybody every felt like they were having issue with not looking like your OLD self after WLS. I have been getting so many people saying you dont look the same or you look so different. I have had people go as far as saying I didnt recognize you. I dont see where I look that much different. I am smaller but I think I look about the same. Anybody ever experience this?

I've had people walk past me and not recognize me until I call their name and they look at me and I say, "It's me" and they're like, I didn't recognize you. I've had some people say that I look different and I say, "I've had my hair flatironed" or if they say, have you lost weight, I'll say "a little bit" (138 lbs to be exact but who's counting).  I don't see it as much as others do but I do feel bones poking out now.  I've been told that I look younger, so I can live with that.

i went to a party and i went to greet one of my girlfriend...gave her a kiss on the cheek and said "hey paula" she looked at me and said "hey" and had this funny look on her face. i just went and sat down and thought to myself "hum what is up with her"  then as the night went on....we are all laughing and talking and she said "oh snappp that is you Cynthia omgggg i was wonder who is this women kissing me on the cheek and acting like she knows me!

we all feel out laughing...personally, i didn't think i changed that much but, when i looked at pictures...oh myyyyy there is truly a difference.....so i am still learning to embrace it.....

Hey Pretty Lady,

It is quite common.... you see you the way you always have, but others actually see you-see-you. Pretty soon it will be where your eyes will catch up with your brain and all will be well with the world.... then people will start calling you vain because you won't BELIEVE the person you are looking at in the mirror is you. You are doing really well with your weight loss.... congratulations...

I experience this every day now.  It was bothering me but now I think it is funny.  I recently went to my hometown and people who have known me all my life didn't recognize me.  I think you reach points where your look has changed radically and people may not have expected that type of change.  Before I had surgery, my mom and I were talking and neither of us expected that I would get much smaller than a size 14, well I am comfortably in a 10 and headed towards and 8 so even for my family the change is unexpected.  You look great!  Keep up the good work!
