Bruh,

I have to disagree about the end of this b/c I feel it is her responsibility to get her right. I feel like this, we have to be hands on and on the forefront of getting our people right and it starts w/ situations like this. I personally feel obligated to help any young bruh around me see the light. Now I'm not saying i'm going to do something dumb to help him however i'm going to have the tough conversations w/ him and let it be known that i'm concerned w/ his growth. I'm a mentor at my job w/ other young brothes and also a mentee as well. We have to be obligated to each other.

EACH ONE TEACH ONE!!!!

Ummm - I gotta disagree with this one....

my RESPONSIBILTY is to administer and follow the policy and rules of my company.  In doing this - I am following the guidelines around informing, coaching and corrective action around each of her 'transgressions'.  that's what I am PAID to do.

Now - as far as 'getting her right' - that's something folk do on their OWN.  If she was REALLY striving for better - WHY am I doing right ups for threatening to 'slap a ho down'?  I am concerned with her 'growth' - but OUTSIDE of this company - she has shot her repuatation in the FOOT here - and continues missteps and issues (much less escalated than the slapping thing) but she has reached out on her OWN to me to ask for feedback or help - and she really hasn't done any of the things I have suggested in the past..... that's why I am on the fence.  IF she decided to make a complaint against me for trying to tell her about herself - then I have to go straight stonewall on her - but if I let it go - she will undoubtedly get herself fired.

Keep in mind - my supervisor is counseling her and coaching her REGULARLY........

so why is it MY responsibility to stop this girl from acting a PLUM fool???

MM,

I feel what you saying and yes it is your responsibilty as far as your company goes and job goes but in my opinion as far as her being a young sister who wants to be in a better situation and position and has expressed a desire to grow with the company then it is on you to leave the window open not open the door and push her through but leave the window open. I bet you Bob and Sarah would do it for each other.

Now i'm not saying save the DUMB if she is open to being better and doing what it takes then yes help her as much as you can but if she's just stuck on stupid yes seperate your self as much as you can.

It is like this to me. If a person is about to kill they self and your watching who is guilty the person tha****ched the person kill they self or the person who done it?

To me both parties are just as guilty........

WE GOTTA HELP EACH OTHER........
Now if she looks at your help like you ain't shid then don't bother and let her do what she think she knows.
Thats all i'm saying here.

Smile for me.........

What say you?

1.) The BACKLINES have backlines. Watch what you say and more importantly WHO YOU SAY IT TO!! 2.) There are NO secrets on BAF. DON'T BE FOOLED!!
3.) The person who says: "I'm going to tell you something, but you can't tell anyone." has already TOLD 50 other people!
No--this isn't from experience--well, not MINE anyway!

Well - she's about to be handed some formal action based on recent behaviors - I am going to piggyback that - use it as a 'launch' point for my 'talk' with her.... based on her reaction to that - I will decide if I want to go further.....

Are you the one handing down that formal action?

Let's say you are:

Ask her how she feels about it. Let her say ALL that she wants to.
Then ask her AGAIN. This time adding: "...keeping in mind that you mentioned to me in the past your aspirations of wanting to move on to bigger and better positions..."

encourage her to answer THAT question. MAKE her think about it, despite the fact that at that precise moment, she may not want to.

Let her know that it wasn't a FINAL blow, she can "...use it as a stepping stone rather than an obstacle." (all that good ****)

compliment her on her attire. ESPECIALLY if it's the type you described earlier. Let her know that she's "working" that outfit--and that you would too---at the club. Not at the workplace. Top it off with a wink.

You would've hit her with a two piece and she won't even know it.

(you are STILL within your rights to leave her be. We can't ALL save the world and even when we CAN, **** we need days off as well.)

Nope - the action is being issued by her direct supervisor - i am just coaching him on it and confirming content.

My meeting/discussion with her would be a skip level.

I'm in agreement with Faith.  I would go with my first instincts. Ain't no use in gettin in no drama at work.  I learned my lesson with trying to help those on the job in that way.  It always backfired on me and then the spotlight would be on me.  No thank you!  It is a beautiful thang when a sistah is trying to help anotha sistah, but that is just too close to ya $$$$$$.  Let her find her own way.

Hugs!

Wouldn't say a word !    Doesn't sound too "teachable" at the moment.  Let her find our.  I'd only have "the talk" if SHE came to me.
