AGING PARENTS, WHEN DO YOU STEP IN FINANCIALLY

That is so true Rhonda.  People are always calling her trying to sell her stuff but she knows the code wordS I taught here.   I DON'T GOT NO MONEY SO IF YOU WANT SOME CALL SOMEONE ELSE.

But she has been taken by salesmen a couple of times now that I have to get her out of.

YEAH I GOT MY DAD. HE IS 66 AND STRUGGLING WITH DIABETES. HE HAD A MILD STROKE BUT HAS LOST SOME OF HIS MEMORY WITH IT. I HAVE TO HELP HIM KEEP TRACK OF LOTS OF THINGS. YOU CAN MONITOR IT FOR HER AND I AM SURE SHE WILL UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE JUST HELPING OUT, NOT TAKING OVER. SO WHEN IT GETS TO THE POINT OF TAKING OVER, YOU BOTH WILL BE IN BETTER TRANSITION.

Yeah I don't want to insult her. She is extremely independent and I don't want to take that away so I will just check her accounts online every month to make sure she is on track.

She really needed and will continue to need your help.  She's blessed to have you there for her.  I don't have my parents, but i have a son that i help with expenses because he's on permanent disability.  I totally understand !

My mom is the same way...but my mom's problem is that she's irresponsible on purpose and i just don't get down like that. She figures she wants something...know she ain't got the money and will go get it anyway..and just pay her bounced check fee's out of her next check.....not figuring that with all the bounced sheck fee's she's payin, if she would have waited she could have had what ever it was and then some. I don't help out anymore, she should know better and if she doesn't she will learn. She doesn't tell me when she bounces checks cause I make sure I let her know "it's un-called for".

Moms is still young and her right mind....hell, it's me calling her "mommy I need some work clothes....what's your credit card number again LOL"

Seventy-five is not old....my dad is around that age....maybe she just really forgot or a check came through that she thought already cleared. I would call the bank and see about having the OD charges removed.....they will do this if this is not a habit.....

I DONT KNOW IF SHE BANKS WITH BANK OF AMERICA, BUT THEY BE MESSING WITH FOLKS ACCOUNTS.

MY GRANDAD IS OLD AND THEY DO HAVE LOTS OF PRIDE. IF I HAVE IT I JUST PUT IT ON A BILL OR PUT IT IN HIS ACCOUNT AND TELL HIM ITS THERE.

JUST KEEP A WATCHFUL EYE OR DECIDE TO TAKE OVER ONE OF THEIR BILLS EACH MONTH LIKE CABLE OR LIGHTS.

I don't have parents any more Lee but it can happen to your mate.  When my DH had a stroke.  He would not let me take over his finances, thought I wanted to control him.  It took a lot of patience and prayer and letting him get himself into deep debt before he realized I was not the enemy.  Hope your mom does not get that way.  Of course he got better but it hurt us financially for a while. I was so glad that we have always had our own bank accounts.  If you think it's hard with a parent.  Imagine your mate.

My parent have gave over there finance to my sister that live near to them but.  They other incomes have both of our names on them the older sibling don't know jack. They are on with there life and have been independent of my parent for a while now.  My sister does all the bills and there's account all over the place. I hate that because my father ask like he's just waiting on his time to go. Mom has Alzheimer's his sister's and brother are all
gone and since the last hurricane he done want to do a things.
Sorry can't give you any advice trying to may daddy unstand life in not at and in.  He'll live long life miserable in had a uncle that out life everyone but the niece and nephew and there was a lot of them.  There a commerical here that says if you are 40 and your parents are 70 sit done and talk to them about there
heath care and finances. She may get upset but you what have to worry about her over drafting checks again.
