I have done it 'back in the day' on a few occasions. One was with a friends brother who lived out of town. It lasted a few years 
We would hook up when he came in town to visit...about 3 - 4 times a year. That was really fun because we both knew there were no strings, therefore no pressure on either of us.
The other times where true one-night stands.

OK it was another time too here in the states, this one time I was at a club and they had a lil dance contest. Well this dude picked this chick up and was dancing/freakin her on the dance floor and I was DAMN...cuz she was a thick chick and he was handling her. So I leaned over to my girl and told her..."I want him to pick me up like that, I bet he good in bed". I got him in a corner on the patio of the club, gave him THE EYE and THE SMILE and THE DANCE...he aint leave my side until the next afternoon!!!

I had only emailed my son's father (friend of a friend) and was just meeting him with intention's of a "what happens in Vegas" kind of thing on my weekend trip from Seattle.
We were together almost 5 years.
I've had a couple of other instances also and they all turned into regular things.
As for where--I'm experimental, lots of places that probably could have landed me in jail.
