I  received SAP training from my employer.  It stands for Sytems Applications and Products in Data Processing. The SAP system provides customers with the ability to interact with a common corporate database for a comprehensive range of applications.

I'm an SAP analyst.  SAP is used by many different types of businesses for many different things.  Like Mack said, it's highly customizable.  It's composed of different modules...  Finance, Sales, HR, etc.  Most companies use it as their ERP system, company-wide.

Do you want to learn about it from an end user standpoint or from an IT standpoint?

Initially, from an end user standpoint but I'm curious....how did you become a SAP Analyst?

I was as a Credit and A/R Analyst for a few years at my company.  During that time, I had become what's called an SAP SuperUser (just someone who knows SAP very well).  They posted a job for an entry-level IT analyst and I applied for it.  I've been on the IT side for almost three years.

It's interesting...  always something different.  We just finished upgrading SAP to the newest version...  a year long project.  Aside from major projects like that, we handle day-to-day user issues as well as requests for system changes and enhancements.

SAP is a good skill to have, but I don't know where you would get experience other than working for a company that runs it.  They do have classes, but they are for programmers and analysts.

What I would suggest to anyone who is trying to make themselve marketable is get to involved w/ Six Sigma and other process improving systems Kaizen type events. Those type of things are very good to have on your resume. I got my yellow belt and Cardinal paid for me to get that however I'm interested in getting my black belt does anyone know how I can go about that? I know its still a ways to go in that though.
Smile for me.........

Hey Baker!  Six Sigma is not a universally educated process.  There are several online programs that offer cerficiation at all levels.  Villanova University is one that comes to mind that offers Six Sigma classes - so there's no accreditation like with regular degrees - you have to be careful that you don't choose a diploma mill.

I have trained thru Green Belt at my job myself!  Black Belt, however, does not interest me at all!  LOL

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......
