you can have the RNY surgury if you had your gallbladder totally removed 15 years ago? Just asking my sister is thinking about the surgury and was sure as hell someone told her she could'nt have it because of that of course I gave her the "stop listining to other people speech" but I figured I'd ask and maybe someone on BAF might have encountered this. Oh and Good morning too......LOL

I think you can. I know I've heard of some having both done at the same time, removal of the GB and RNY.

thanks kim she is scared as hell thinking she will not be able to digest things, she already has a time sometime doing it, I know she needs to consult a doctor but I figured I'd ask anyway. I really want to know what does one have to do with the other do you know? BTW-congrats on your chanllenge you're doing great!

I haven't researched this too much. I do know I have gallbladder and digestion problems too. I had this before WL and I still have the problems now. It's nothing too bad, but I will be going for testing the beginning of the year to see if I need to have mine removed.

Thanks for the congrats...girl, it's a struggle for me, but I've been hanging in there. This accountability really helps.

Sure can, my co-worker had her GB removed YEARS before Open RNY....in fact some surgeons will remove your GB during RNY.

Hi,

Had my GB removed 2 years ago, and have been approved as a candidate. I dont think it matters except for the fact that sometimes people have to have their GB removed after surgery.

Yes, you sure can. Mine was taken out years before my WLS.
