Christmas Tree - Designer or Traditional?

Growing up, our Christmas tree was always traditional in the sense that anything and everything goes on the tree.  Homemade ornaments, popcorn, etc., any color, any size.  The lights were also multicolored.  Since I've been married, I have put up only "designer" trees - color coordinated, etc.  For the past 6 years it has been gold and white, last year it was purple and silver, and this year I'm back to gold and white because I can't find the purple and silver ones (I may have thrown them out by mistake!).

How about it BAF - Traditional or Designer?

My 6 year old did our tree, lol.  When we shopped for the decorations I was mortified at her choices, but that little girl hooked it up!

We have a white tree, colored lights and a Mardi Gras theme going on (purple, green gold) decorations.

It's whatever floats her boat, but growing up....we had traditional trees.  Anything went on there.

Our tree is usually coordinated , but when the children where smaller the tree was more tradional...lol  I do get them a new ornament every year even though the teenager thinks that's "corney" My tree was purple and silver last as well! This year it's Blue ,White and Silver already seen the ornaments that I will be getting for next year becuase I will be at the store on the 31st when every thing goes on sale..lol (Green, Red and Gold 2009!)

I want a pink and purple tree next year!  One year I had a red tree - velvet red apples and red bows with red plaid ribbon garland!  If only I was more organized when taking it down, I could locate each color scheme!  Ah well, one day....

That's so sweet!  Of course, we don't have any kids, but I did dress my poodle up in a Santa outfit!

My tree has always has the same green, red, white, and gold, with clear light inside and outside. When the kids was babies there was kids toys on it.
As they grew I change a few things every year. but it stayed the same colors all these years. In the last 12 year I find one thing a years I can"t do with out and put at least 6 of the one thing. I really love my tree it is full of crystal, even with GBies they like it.It's usually up by Thanksgiving not this year painting and getting the house ready to look for something else to move to BUT hopefully it will be through TOMORROW.Traditional I guess. When I learn to post pic on post I post a pic of it.
