Body Lifts for the Sistas
Hey All,
I am still in the research stage, well not really, in the waiting stage I had a consult; but got this one really big question. Do we as the people of color fall prey to the need for plastic surgery after WLS? I am 5'2", 240(about) BMI 44 and I want to get down to about 170. I want to do LapBand which I understand is slower loss in the begining but evens out with gastric after time, I am hoping that I won't have skin hanging all over the place after I drop some of this. I have had a tummy tuck or sorts as part of breast reconstruction following breast cancer. That was 5 years ago so I don't have the gut I had previously and hopefully it will keep me from another. It is also my hope that since we don't spend time in a tanning bed, and the fact that I glow like a neon light as soon a I heat up a little (oily skin) that makes our skin more rezilant. How many of you have had, plan to have or feel you need something lifted because of WLS.
First since you plan on having the Lap Band you will probably have less issues with lose skin because you should lose slower than a gastric bypass patient.
That said, I plan on having everything from a lower body lift to a breast lift and anything in between. My first round of plastics is scheduled for spring 2009.
