This is a message no hardly ever talk about, once you have considered having wls (weight loss surgery) and actually go through the recovery. Please Please Please do exactly what your surgeon has instructed you to do. dont be like me and think you got it altogether trust me you really dont.

i elected to have surgery in October 31,2003 i did extremely well i followed the plan and took my vite and protein and hit the gym hard. i lost well over 200 lbs in my 1st yr. and another 100 lbs by my 2nd yr so we are talking well over 300 lbs lost.

now my highest weight was 600 pounds i stand 5 feet 8 inches. by year number 3 i have completely slacked off, screwed up and gained i beleive maybe 250 lbs and maybe more i am too ashamed to admit it.

now i am gonna have to work that much harder to get back what was lost ,trust me it was more than weight. what they dont tell you is there is a great chance of gaining that weight back and possibly more if you dont do whats right. now i must admit for two yrs. of my life post-op i can honestly say, may have been the best years of my life. because of the way society treated me
it felt good and sometimes i wonder.

i have also noticed those same FAT problems i used to have are slowly coming back i dont have to go into detail we all have our FAT problems only we know too well.

i hope this post was informative and please dont be like me dont let what happened to me happen to you, you dont have to go through this and trust me it sux.

thank you, by the way this goes for pre and post-op wls patients.

Hi Garland...Sorry to hear what happened but when do you get to the point where you gain back say 20-30 lbs and you get back on track on do what you have to do...Like at what point do you stop doing the things you did pre-surgery...I know that it is easier said than done...But when did you realize that you were losing the battle again and why didnt you do anything sooner?

like you stated earlier it is easier said than done. actually i was the last to know or at least i thought i had all under control. i didnt i did what Ms. Winfrey call hit "ROCK BOTTOM" i lost self control, self esteem and most of all my dignity. and i just had to stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!! I had that lil talk with myself. I , SIMPLY PUT STOPPED LOVING MYSELF because if i did i would not have did that to myself a 2nd time BUT THE BUS WILL PULL OUT TOMORROW. read my post about the "bus en-route to Fat-nomo-ville" it will all come alive

GorgeousIsa I am almost 7 years post-op and will TRY to answer this question for you... I have lost a total of 134 pounds and have gained about 22 pounds of that back since my lowest weight. I didn't gain 22 pounds overnight BUT, I do weigh on a regular basis and saw the 5 and 10 pounds slowing creeping back up. When I notice a change on the scale or in my clothes. You see if you don't put a stop at the beginning it will be very easy to gain 25, 50 or more pounds....

I STOP eating crap and up my exercise to stop the weight gain. You see my first 3 years I was post-op I ate whatever I wanted and NEVER exercise and the weight fell off with very little effort on my part.. I suggest to all new post-ops to start eating healthy at the beginning and later down the road it want be such a struggle....
