I have absolutely georgeous skin.    I use philosophy hope in a jar, when your my age you need a little hope even if it does come in a jar.   It is a moisturizer.  I don't wear foundation or makeup on my face.

I love your new avie with the straight hair....my skin is soooo dry....my doc is actually running test on me b/c  I had multiple symptoms---dry skin, thinning hair, constipation, weight gain among others -- on my thyroids---and the schitt runs in my family too....she prescribed me so good cream....can't remember the name of it.....but even without the cream, here is my ritual for my skin:

Body

I shower in Johnson and Johnson 24-hour body wash with a touch of baby oil---it's the one in the white bottle with yellow and brown....it's the bomb---it makes the skin so soft....(note: If I am about to be lovey with hubby I still use my Warm Vanilla Sugar Body wash LOL)

When I get out the shower, my best friend is J&J baby oil gel (aloe in green top).....then I use the J&J 24 hour lotion (its in white bottle with yellow and brown too---I think it is oatmeal and shea butter) ~you will smell so sweet and feel so silky and smooth~

Face

I do not have a dry FACE....it is actually Perfect right now b/c it was OVER OILY.  I had to use facials to balance it out....but with my newfound drier than dry skin, my face is at a perfect balance; however, I would use nothing more than oil of olay if my face was dry...that is all my mom and sister use....no makeup EVER....they have never worn foundation....just lipstick and liner.....(I used to do that too)

I focus not on my disabilty; my focus is on my ABILITIES.

Not sure if you are able to do this with your type of surgery but adding fish oil capsules works internally on your skin.  Try using a humidifier in your home too.  I run a humidifier in my bedroom at night.  I put Cetaphil cream on my face at bedtime and in the morning my skin is really soft and moisturized.  I'm only 4 weeks out from surgery and my skin looked horrible until this week.
For dry skin on the rest of your body try using Shea Butter or some kind of heavy body butter.

Thanks for all of the good tips. I've tried the Oil of Olay and I'm still flaky so I'll have to step it up. My hair is even dry so I guess I need to take the Omega 3 fish oil also. I'll be experimenting until I find something and I guess that I'll invest in some mascara, eyeliner and lipgloss.
