I am really just inquiry about others experiences.  I really am not stressed.  The few people I know personally that had wls was in the hospital 2 to 4 days and was off work 4 to 6 weeks.  So I was just trying to find out a 24 hour hospital stay and two weeks off work is normal at all. Thanks for your response :)

i was released to go home a day after surgery as well after my leak test. like you i wanted more care and i requested to stay. they had no problem allowing that.

I was on winter break from school so i dont know about getting time off for work. I can tell you that i was driving within a week. (prob not the best idea) I recovered WAY faster than i expected.

Its ok to be concerned but remember your paying so if you want extra time just ask for it. Hugs!

I didn't put my expected hospital time on my post.  They told me 23 hours.  Not 24...just 23 hours.  I was hoping for 48 but I have to take what I can get.

I think they specified 23 hours because that is considered an observation stay vs 24 hours which turns into an inpatient stay.  Some insurances pay different based on the type of stay.

I went home after 23 hours and that was due to insurance.  Of course had there been complications or concerns I would have been in the hospital longer.  I could have returned to work in two weeks but chose to take six weeks.  I simply wanted time to adjust to my pouch, bathroom habits, meal consumption, etc.  It was good for me.  I had Lap RNY.
